Default Tau 1750 for tournament with 2 DoW missions: comments and ideas welcome

I want to run a mixed force that taps into all of the Tau technology available. I've deliberately included a gun drone in the fire warrior squads to keep in the theme of extremely high drone use. I want to showcase drones to their best ability.

The idea is to set up a fire based with the commander, fire warriors, Hammerheads and Broadsword then flank the kroot squads and stealth team whilst deep striking the 2 crisis teams.

Yes I would be utilising the positional relay for controlled reserve rolls but this falls far short of the infamous ninja build

I would use the pathfinder's devilfish to extract the foot slogging fire warriors.

I have toyed with a second commander to add to one of the crisis teams or a bodyguard for the commander. These would require me to drop the stealth team. I've also looked at adding a suit to the deathrain (TL Missile pod) squad and adding a single suit with TL fusion blasters for solo suicide missions.

Comments and comp scores would be highly helpful.

First, id give commander'O a plasma rifle instead of missile pod. Cyclic blaster is good at heavy infantry, and missile pod light vehicles, not a great mix. Add a AP2 weapon which has only 1 less str so it will still wound most on 2+.

If you want a drone theme to show them off, use markerlight drones in your stealth team. Sure they cost alot but they rlly annoy opponents, and show off the different types of drones.

Maybe take out pathfinder team to find the points for the drones, and get another fire warrior squad without a fish with the leftovers if you can - another troop choice wont hurt.

I like your thinking about the drones. What I can do is drop the PF squad and add a DF to the other FW squad. With a bit of jiggling I can get 3 marker drones and a team leader with a marker light in the stealth team.

As far as the commander goes he's really supposed to be the classic all rounder. Early game shots at transports and late game shots at medium to heavy infantry or pumping out 5 shots at hordes. Initially I had him teamed with a body guard that had a missile pod and the air burst fragmenter along with 2 more shield drones.

Edit.

This of course gets me to the question; is 4 marker lights that last the whole game better than 8 marker lights that last half the game?

Yes, because as long as the markerdrones are in a jet pack squad like stealthsuits, then they are relentless, meaning they can JSJ with their markerlights as well. This gives you way more manuverability and they are not as easy to kill with the stealth shields (markerlight range 36, maximum night vision 36)
