I don't like the missile pod suits in with the fusion / plasma rifle commander
I also don't like the missile pod, plasma rifle combination, just because its really expensive and you don't have even a little protection. stim injector on commander. you want him to die first? DROOOOONES really good elite killer? yeah! You should be fine against CSM. but you need drones on that commander and 3 deathrains is a lot for shooting up 1 tank a turn. Id go for drones instead of 1 of the targetting arrays. Maybe a target lock in there? Get some smart missiles on those Devilfish. They are killer for just 20 points! This sounds stupid, 8) but go with me... if you reduce those FW squads to 6 each (stupid) then you can fit both into the devilfish ( i dont know if you CAN do that legally, though ;D) ! That'd be great, less points, more mobile firepower, more flexibility |

As far as the devilfish thing, im not for sure, but I dbout it. Now for this list. I did change it up a bit, however my oponant shot nothing but 8str weapons at me, so all my HQs were insta killed by obliterators with their plasma shots. I even had a coulpe of shield drones. My unit of deathrains ran off the board. It was preaty much a horable game. There wasnt much else for me to do, I think I did everything to the best of my ability.

Okay, first off. What do you want your HQ to do? Right now it's setup for heavy infantry hunting (termie hunting?). Since you're facing Obliterators and thus both Plasma Cannons and Lascannons the stims alone are going to do little good. Unless you DS him he's unlikely to survive until he gets into rapid fire range. That being said, shield drones are your friend. The body guards are fine, their generalists and capable of out ranging your HQ so maybe use them to soften up the enemy before you get into rapid fire range.
I <3 Deathrain-4's. They make we feel warm inside. ....err You might want to consider bonding that team of stealths... they run fast... If you don't have more troops I would Strongly suggest getting them. I can't stress this enough... no photon grenades. They will quite literally do more harm to your army then good. How's that might you ask? Instead of your FWs getting massacered in one round of CC and leaving the offending enemy standing out in the open you now loss combat at the end of the next combat which happens to be on YOUR turn. Now the enemy has a free round of movement and assault before you can get another shot in. As sucky as it is... FWs will always loss in CC, just count on it. EMP grenades are chancy at best. Maybe in a carbine team, but only just then. At 3 points a pop even equiping 7 FWs with them is going to set you back 27 points... that's more than half the points of the railgun you could have put on your hammerhead. With that in mind, maybe switch the ioncannon for a railgun. If you want to hunt marines or transports your Deathrains can do both (I hunt necrons allllll the time with them). Good Hunting!

An excelent point you make, ive never thought about it that way. Ill leave photons out next game. The only reason I keep thge EMPS is for tank shocks, I believe its an insta hit. |
