Default Apoc game 1000 point; multi-player free-for-all

There were only two restrictions: No more than 10 models (but not including models under wargear) and no vehicles. So, at first I thought: wow, I can get quite a lot of crisis suits and no one will touch me... but then I thought of something far more sinister: ...ten broadsides... on a board with only infantry/monstrous creatures. I will be public enemy 1, but the power rush is too much not to do; so this is the list:

++++ [Heavy Support] ++++

Points: 400
% of Army: 100

Unit cost: 300
XV88 'ui TL
--- [TL Railgun, TL Plasma rifle, Targeting array, HW Drone controller, Shield Drone, Shield Drone, HW Multi-tracker]
2x XV88 'ui
--- [TL Railgun, TL Plasma rifle, Multi-tracker]

Three units of the above (total 9 broadsides)

Unit cost: 100
XV88 'ui TL
--- [TL Railgun, TL Plasma rifle, Targeting array, HW Multi-tracker]
-----------------------
Total model count: 10
-----------------------

The last Monat is going to be attached to one of the large squads. I went with the Plasma rifles and the multi-trackers because the board will be too thick with models for my slow broadsides to do much so I went full on fire power. The only thing that will survive will be with invulnerable saves (I bet nearly EVERY model on the board will have them considering the criteria) and monsters with toughness above 5 (I can't instagib those dirty monsters). Thoughts? tears of joy?

Hmm, I can honestly see a team of a greater daemon and Kairos walking over everything in the game.

What's your strategic asset?
If I can humbly suggest something, I remember the asset that attacks all single opposing models would be fun.

Well, my ability to deny any armor saves to any infantry model on the field and either put a wound down or a whole model when an invulnerable save is failed (usually a worse save than armor so should be failed more often) I expect that they will range from +4 to +5, and when I'm putting 10 rail gun shots twin-linked (and four of them at BS 4) something will leave the table. I expect that my first targets will be any near by assault teams (so the plasma rifles deny also armor saves, while consistantly putting wounds on T 4 models and below; the majority of models I think in this game). I can see the board being quite cluttered and so I'm gonna put a LOT of fire down. something like 10 shots ANYWHERE on the table and then another 10 shots at 2 feet and then another at 12 inches. So when I see something within 12 inches, its getting 1 railgun shot and 2 Plasma Rifle shots per model in range. at only 10 models a player, I'm going to put something down. My strategy will likely concentrate on the assault squads near by and when I've secured my immediate area, then pump shots where ever I feel like. I know demons have quite a good shot, but even they don't have enough wounds to survive a ten shot salute from the most powerful guns this side of 2000 points. I have +2 armor saves and +4 invulnerable saves for every squad so I'm not worried about incoming fire (and I can out shoot any other army out there). I believe I might stand a good chance if I can get a secure site first or second turn. but if I get assaulted... I'm done.

I'm talking about a models with re-rollable 4+'s (or better).

Very fast and tough models. Add to that the other people who no doubt will see you as a threat as well.

I'll be honest, I don't usually get that kind of attention on the board (oh, tau... I've got assaulty stuff [although I've been learning a lot over these last few months of playing and have been steadily getting better at dealing with them]), and that will be the moral victory for me. I expect I'll have my own set of problems on this side of the Rail Gun barrel, but I think it will be fun. I don't do a lot of hard core competitive stuff, and this will literally be my first competition ever. So I want to start it out with a big bang!

How many other players will they be?

Any armies or possible opposition lists yet?

I'm guessing no more than ten no less than five. I'm looking at: Necrons, Orks, Chaos, Space Marines, and possibly Witch Hunters.

Honestly, I would have taken Farsights bodyguard of doom with another shas'o attached to them. Since shield drones are wargear, you can take as many of those as you want, and then you stand a chance of dealing with things that charge you. It's not quite as fun as 10 broadsides, but I think it would be more reliable.

Cheers!

I would drop that last broadside for a two man team of firestorms. They will be immensely useful if you run into someone spamming light infantry/ light vehicles. Also, they could act as a mobile distraction, keeping the enemy away from your broadsides.

Wait, didn't you say that one of the restrictions is you cant take vehicles? That makes the broadsides quite a bit worse (though they will be very useful when dealing with the monstrous creatures).

Anyway, if I was in this tournament, I'd probably take an entire army of stealth suits, led by Shadow Sun but your idea is a good one too.

He can't use either of the things you suggested because he can have no more than ten models, and He already has 9 broadsides with ya first suggestion.
