Hi everyone my first post here.

My local store is running a painting chalenge over the next month or so. the basic premise is paint a 1000 point army in that time and seeing as I' ve just acuired a second hand tau army I ve decided to enter that.

After digging through what I got this is the list that I came up with.......

HQ

Shas'o - cyclonic ion launcher, plasma rifle, shield generators.
2 Body Guards, plasma rifle, fusion blaster, sheild generators

Troops

12 Fire warriors, Shas'ui

12 Fire warriors, Shas'ui

18 Kroot, 4 Kroot hounds Shaper

Fast Attack

8 Path finders, Shasui
Devil fish, smart missiles

Heavy

1 Broadside, Multi Tracker.

Wanted to know what you guys thought of it as a playable list as there will be a mini tournement on the day, and although I am a reasnobly experianced player I ve never played with or even been up against Tau before

Saying that its more about the painting and i will probably post pics of my progress durring the month to keep me motivated more than anything

your kroot seem to be just in there for some peoples tastes. I dont like too many myself, since small teams are flexible, and dont take up alot of room in infiltration when a few inches means the world.

shas`ui, recommended you get a bonding knife. You can regroup below half, nice considering the chancy 8 ld.

the shas`o, downgrade to a shas`el, and do target array, plasma/cyclic ion blaster, with hw multitracker, and by george get a bonding knife! Be careful of the short range of your weapons. Long shots can weather even a marine.

consider investing into a hammer head in the future. Submunitions are great for tyranids, and other armies. Look for the skyray boxes, because they have all the bitz for fish, ray, and head.

Consider running the shas `o body guard into single men teams, and upgrade them to team leaders for hardwired gear.

If your hq is assaulted everyone is tied up, including your plasma.

Thanks for that. Truth be told I have that many kroot because i think they will look good, but i will drop a couple and get bonding knives for the units that can have them.

wow, nice painting.
Good army but might suffer against tanks if you lose your Broadside. Nice to see you have some battlesuits with FBs incase anything goes wrong
