Default 1500 point Friendly Tau list

Hello to everyone out there. I am long time Tau player, but I am going to be playing in my first game of 5th edition soon and wanted to get some feedback on my list.

I don't really know what I will be facing tonight because most of my friends have multiple armies, so it tried to build the list to be as balanced as possible. Let me know what you think

Heya,

All around I think you've got a pretty good list there, but I'd change out some of the more fine details.

On the HQ slot, I think you can drop the Target Lock and the Black Sun Filter, as they don't have the best uses in most games. I know some people that always run the Blacksun Filters though, so whatever you want with that. For the bodyguards I'm in a sort of debate. On one hand they're pretty expensive, and overall you're paying 264 points for 3 suits, but likewise they're rather deadly units as they're equipped, although a tad less so with the new Cover Save rules (ie, nearly everything has one :P) In the end it's up to you, as I'm not sure if you should make them Elites and save yourself 40 points from that, or keep them as is. Same as with on the commander, drop the Target Locks.

The Crisis Suits I kind of have a problem with though. They're equipped like suicide Deep Strikers right now, and it's an extremely small chance as it is to get them where you want 'em, but the only extra thing you have is the Pathfinder's Devilfish (only if in LOS, too). I think you should change them out to Deathrains instead, those are quite a bit better, and maybe take 2 squads of 2-3 of them.

On another note, a particular configuration I am beginning to enjoy myself with in this edition is the 3 Firestorm unit, only changes being a Shas'Vre w/ Airbursting Fragmentation Projector replacing the Burst Cannon. Maybe adding a Targeting Array if you really want to subtract that extra inch. The blast disallows Cover Saves, and otherwise is a bolter, so you're all cool and are hitting a lot more targets than the Burst Cannon. Only drawback is the price, really...

Ok, so on the troops, I have a neat trick you can do, and is actually quite popular around hereabouts now. Under the new rules the Devilfish can carry another unit's warriors (ie, Fire Warriors is what I'm pointing at). You can drop one of the Fire Warrior Devilfish Transports and just fly around in the Pathfinder fish, saving yourself 85-odd points to buy 2 more Pathfinders and add more a couple of bodies to your Kroot squads, then spend the rest of the points sprucing up your army, maybe even finding something to mess with so that you get a unit of Stealths, or just use the points for more Crisis Suits.

As stated earlier, add more Pathfinders to the squad, and if anything cut the Blacksun Filter. Otherwise you're golden.

That's all I've got, I usualy run a Skyray along with those 2 hammerheads, but everyone has their preferences.
