Okay, my friend gave me his old Tau codex for free, so I just drafted up this list to get a sort of outline of what i want until i get my own codex and models, so if some things are off or changed I apologize
Hq- Shas'o twin linked plasma rifle missile pod Shas'vre bodyguard burst cannon missile pod (dunno what use for 3rd hardpoint) Shas'vre bodyguard (dunno how to equip) Hq=167 pts w/o additional weapons for bodyguard Troops 6 shas'la 6 shas'la troops = 120 pts Heavy Support Hammerhead Railgun Smart Missile System disruption pod target lock Heavy support = 170 Total = 457 Basically all the tables here are cityfight so Id set up my firewarriors in a ruin with good vantage and just have them shoot the whole game. Hammerhead will find a firing lane and just blast away and when theres no line of sight just shoot the smart missiles. Meanwhile the shas'o and shas'vres will be ducking in and out of cover hitting anything they can. Its my first tau list, and Ive only seen them play twice, so if its way off from how it should be played, im ready to listen. Thanks |

Hammerhead in a 500 point game? Thats mean man, just mean.
Well, for your Shas'O, you should not twin-link your weapons. He already has a high BS skill so you don't need to worry much about him missing. Even then, you'll need a multi-tracker on the Commander so he can fire both weapons. I suggest putting him down to a Shas'el to save points Loose the Bodyguard. It Eliminates his IC status and makes both suits susceptible to heavy weapons. Try putting him in the Elites section as just a regular Battlesuit, and I suggest fitting him with a twin-linked Missile Pod and a Flamer. Twin-linked missile pods because he has a lower BS than the commander and the Flamer because they deny an opponent their cover save, a very valuable thing when fighting on a board with lots of terrain, like Cityfight. Like I said above, putting a Hammerhead at this low points level is just mean, and because you have two minimized troops choices, it may make you look like a powergamer, not to mention you're dangerously low on models. Just my two cents Snowbird
