Default request assistance from my fellow commanders

All right, I know how to make armies, and I've written a few tactics articles, but lately, my flare for owning with the forces of the Greater Good. Maybe Castris is just getting a but tired. I just need a fresh start for my army, especially as I'll be going into an 1850 point league.

And as for the league, it is 1850, versus armies including Blood Angels, vanilla marines, Chaos, Eldar, Witch Hunters, Orks, and Imperial Guard (that I know of). We all have a 500 point side force that we can swap in units from so that we can adjust slightly. We also may have a 25 point "give" in case we go slightly over, as they are units we have to trade in, not points. Now, I have one army, and I would like to see what you guys do with it. I hope you all can help.

Looks like a real sound list. If I can reccomend anything, its that you have some pirannahs for the 500 pt switch out. Those little buggers can come in handy!

Oh, and I personally am unsure about your H.Q. choice. Is it something you are trying out, or something that works for you? Just curious.

And finally, I dont know where you would get the points, but you are lacking a bit of markerlight support. Maybe some pathfinders?

Good luck!

Hmm......... I personally don't understand why you'd give Fire Warriors in a Devilfish carbines. You probably have a plan in mind, but I just haven't seen this done before.

I have seen this done before - WD battle report: Tau against Dark Angels. The Firewarriors with Rifles were footsloggers, the Carbine-totters had a ride
Needless to say who lost (DAs being the new army could also have something to do with it... )
Apart from this a solid list, no complaints coming from my side ^^

those fools lost because shadowsun is a crappy shas'o. She's being retrained by Castris as long as I still have my camera crew. Anyway, the fire warriors with carbines are basically a long ranged fish of furry that is easier to execute. And maybe piranha would be a good idea. I'll haev to check it out. oh and the list is updated.

So you have 3 of those carbine teams? Personally, I would make one of those teams at least 4/4 carbines to rifles, and would recommend actually being 2/6 Carbines to Rifles. This way you have one team that's a bit closer with heavier firepower, but you're not as exact as a FoF (carbines a bit back, rifles within 12") and this will also allow you to deploy all 3 in a chevron formation, with the front fish rifles/carbines, with the other 2 teams slightly back on either side (boxing in the first team to further protect) if you have a real tough unit to crack, but also have the option of hitting with 3 teams in 3 different locations. I would also recommend a Pathfinder team as well, maybe 4 PFs, and a 'Fish with SMS, Decoys and Target Lock instead of 2 of your Sniper Teams. This will give you some concentration on those tough-nut-to-crack units with the Markerlights, use the Warfish as backup to the mounted FW units, plus, it looks like you're DSing a lot, so the Marker Beacon will be good there.

If you have a FW unit with carbines and a shas'ui, drop two firewarriors, and take two drones instead. Statistically, the twin linking gives you BS 3.3 instead of 3, and theres no real downside.

Since you use markerlights, let me point out that a single ML hit would boost a gun drone to an effective BS of 4.5. Even more of a gain over the firewarrior.

It's a small, painless change that will make your list marginally more effective. That said, I really feel rifles are a better choice. More range restrictive, sure, but pure firepower is often handy.

that's a great idea, with the gun drones, and I love it so much, but it does have a downside, in that I lack that many drones :-[, at least in extra
