This will be my two cents but I hope this helps.

Over all not bad, Tau are a great shooting army. They have the best stanard weapon in the game. Str5 and 30" I always take 2 to 3 units in games under 1k. In my 750 list, I was taking 3 units of 8 or 1 unit of 10, and two flanking units of 8. I have yet to try the Hounor Guard but BS4 FW would be great! I would look up some tactica on the Stealth Suits. They are powerful but fragil yet you have to play them aggressively to get things done. As a rule I don't think of SS as a main force, I think of them as the and whipped cream and cherry on top of a cake. They sneak around take objectives, take on heavy support units or isolated squads. They may do it alone but I always attack a crisis suit with them as extra fire support. In what ever you decide good luck. While this is an old link, I still think it has alot of good stuff to think about http://forums.tauonline.org/index.ph...3521#msg163521 WT

Lemme take a quick look at this before i head off to bed.
HQs 1) Your commander should be an 'El and have a practical set-up, I prefer the Fireknife set up to the exclusion of almost anyhting else, but i guess it is your choice. 2)Bye Bye Ethereal. you should never consider even taking an Ethereal in a 1000 and under game, unless it holds a specific place in your heart (and even then, mine only sees anyaction in 1500 points) Troops 1)Kroot are good, but i think you have a tadd too many. 12-13 is a good number, but 20 is a waste of points in this level if they are all in one squad. 2)YOU NEED FIRE WARRIORS!!! Add at least 12 Fire Warriors in there, I would personally take 24, but that is just me. If you want to, you could mount on squad in the Warfish, but i would advise against it. Elites 1) take out 2 of the Stealths and grab a bonding knife (of doom), frees up some points and makes the squad still rather effective. Heavy Support 1) you have none! of course you are gonna face some tanks in this level, so you hsould take a Hammerhead with Railgun, Multi-Tracker, and Burest Cannon (Decoy Launchers help even more!) Otherwise the list looks fine

I know this isn't a complete army by any stretch, but I really hope you rethink the HQ!
The Commander is strange looking, vectored thrusters is for hopping in and out of combat with infantry, but he's setup for one-shot tank hunting. At BS5 the twin linking is really unnecessary. Giving him another gun is probably the way to go, and hard-wire a multi tracker. Ethereals are a bit iffy as well... they don't add a whole lot to your army anymore, but can be a liability. The honor guard's BS4 is nice, but you can get that with markerlights if you want. I just don't think they're worth the points... do it for the fluff if that's your thing. Anyway it's pretty hard to tell where you're going with the army at this point, I hope you keep posting progress and ideas, so we can help you build up again. Is this a second Tau army for you? Or are you an experienced gamer from other races? |

This will be my second Tau army. Heres the revised List and what I plan to do with it: Shas'el Commander-104 -MP -PR -FR -Multitracker Deepstrike onto objectives or near isolated enemy units (Dreads, devastators, tanks) and shred 'em. Ethereal-60 -Honour Blade Gives the FW's the extra BS and the Honour Blade looks mad! Monat Crisis-77 -PR -MP -Positional Relay -multi-tracker Provides mobile fire-support anywhere on the battefeild and allows the commander to deepstrike on turn 2 on a 2+! 4xStealthsuits-125 -Bonded They shred anything that moves ![]() 20xKroot-140 They move up and guard any unit that is performing a task dangerously close to the enemy. 8xHonourguard-130 -Shas'ui -EMP's This is a multi-tasking unit. They can try to pin low leadership units in place, give mobile fire-support, or pop enemy tanks, which they are good at. Warfish-115 -SMS -Targetting Array -Multitracker Honourguards transport/fire support (SMS ignores terrain ;D) TOTAL-751

LOL, when I see the CC, I tend to think Close combat.
On to the comments, as someone mentioned earlier, I really think you are going to need some Anti Armor, aka Railgun. I think, one will do. Unless you game with friends where they don't use a lot of armor. The other item is the deep strike, Do you play friendly games where you can deep strike if you need to or do you roll for it? You are using a good bit of points to deep strike your guys and they may or may not be able to. Then you are using points to use an Etheral and Hounor Guard. I would recommend you use points to do either one but not both. My 750 army list is one of two ideas. I either pound you to the ground with Crisis suits and my whole list works with that idea, with 4 or 5 suits running around monat and FWs to back them up. Or I use three FW units with one unit of kroot to flank my opponent and with three suits to move in and help out the FW units. Quote:
I think that 750 point games are great, they really show what certain units can do. I am considering using an Houron Guard and see how it works out. My problem is I really enjoy the mobility of the crisis suit and the weapons it can pack. So, I take a list designed to work with the suits. Good Luck WT

Um, dropping the Commander in against Devastators and Dreadnoughts and whatnot might be a little more risky than necessary... a single krak missile will still ruin his day. Deep striking him also makes his IC status rather irrelevant, if he's the closest target he's gonna get blown away.
Maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic, I mean killing a Dreadnought isn't the hardest thing in the world, but Devs or even a decent size Tactical Squad will be trouble for him to handle alone. |

I thought you might look at a similar 750 List. This is my all comers, so very stanard.
HQ Shas'el - HdWd MT/PR/MP/TA Elite Crisis Deathrain TwLk MP/TA Troops FW Main unit 11 with Shas'ui Bonded FW 8 unit FW 8 unit Kroot unit of 10 Heavy Support- Heavyhead- Railgun BC/TA/MT/DL Broadside Twinlinked Railgun/SMS/Advan Stab system Total- 750 My plan is to use my FW troops as the main fire base large unit in the middle smaller units on the flanks. The kroot are used to make a strong side. Kroot will become main attack force if there are any woods in the middle or flank. The HQ and Elite back up weakside attacks. Heavy Support take out armor first. WT
