OK. I just received my MegaForce with extra Hammerhead spru from GW.
and Ebay just turned up SO the 3.5k pts are in the house ( but still in a box maybe ) BUT the army looks like :

HQ

Shadownsun

Etheral + 8FireWarrior Bodyguard, SHas'vre, devilfish and Drone Ctrl+2 Shield. OR

Crisis : Shas'o, Hard wired Multi Track, TargetArray, FusionB, Plasma, + HardWired Drone ctrl with 2 shield drones. Bdyguard Missile+PLasma+TargetArray + HardWiredMultiTarget, HardWiredDroneController + 1 Sheild 1 Marker drone
(* if I take this then I take 2 stealth elite, if not 2 crisis elite, 1 stealth )

Elite

1 6 man stealth, 2 FusionB, TargetArrayA ( same again if no etheral )

1 3 man crisis ( Missile, Fusion or Missle, Plasma or Plasma, Fusion with TargetAarray, HardwiredMultiTrack and hard wired drone ctrl for ldr with 2 Shield )

Fast

Pirhana Squadron 3 BusrtCannon 2 Fusion, Targetarray and 5 off them !

Vespid 9+1

Pathfinder ( 8 - 3 with Railgun, Shas'vre, fish etc )

I also have another Hammerhead, a sniper team, another broadside conversion, and a heavy gun drone squadron( 6 * tl Busrst can Drones ) and some 12+ reg gun drones

( i may have mentioned previously, I went tau bonkers with the plastic card )

i think Im going black n white on the scheme ( beter than plastic grey )

did I miss anything ?
are pirhana better BC or Fusion?
are stealth better BC or Fusion ? is a target array really worth it ?
does the etheral need a BG ? if not i got 12 more fw troops
whats the best heavy combo I can field ? against who ?

having more money than sense or time means i have 3.5k of tau and last played a game 8-10yrs ago ( marines v nids - roughly 2nd ed rules - won 1 lost 1 )

so, you vets can pull my shining path cadre apart with years of battlefield experience ?

I think Hybrid, but will depend upon enemy and pts limit. i think the heavy gun drones will help against hordes like Ork more than the skyray. i dont know how good vespid are - i gather you hit n run with them rahter than toe2toe

im confused re crisis suits and burst cannon/flamer combo's. again, i gues it depends on enemy and points limits.

I like the idea of shadowsun and a crisis shas'o HQ rather than etheral.( and it provides me with another 12 man fw team with the shield drones going to elite stealth teams A and B. - more guidance please - should I limit the fusion guns on stealth teams?

BC's can be taken in allot of other place in your army, not to mention you have allot of S5 weapons any way. Because of this the Phirana is usually equipped with a Fusion blaster and sent tank hunting.

I'm sorry a BG? In any case taking an ethereal is not the best way to make a list as it is generally considered a waste of points as its leadership ability's are not that good and he is an easy target for the enemy, which puts all your troops at risk of running of the board with no real gain.

Burst cannon definatly, as the fusion would mean it would have to get close enough for its stealth feild to be nearly useless. The target array is only worth it if you have maxed out the squad. Other wise you can add another squad member for exactly the same cost

There is no best combo really as it all depends on your play style (Tau come in three flavours Mechanised (Mech) Hybrid or static, do a forum search for more detail). In Mechanised you would take all hammerheads in static you would take all broadsides and in hybrid you would take a mix. Sniper drones my also be taken in a static hybrid army, which gives you some anti-marine killing power.

Just as a note you cant have shadowsun AND an ethereal as the crisis commander is a 1+ choice (you have to take one)
