Tourney 2000 pt list. Advice needed

Default Tourney 2000 pt list. Advice needed

I haven't posted in a while but here it goes. This is for a summer tourney where i have to play against a lot of people with different armies. So this has to be a general list that can go against any army.

HQ 1: Shas'O
Miss.Pod, CIB, PR, HW Mt Total: 127
[size=7pt] For general anti-heavy infantry use [/size]

Elite 1: 3 Crisis Suits
Fusion, BC, MT Total: 150
[size=7pt] These are for tank hunting and some anti-horde defense [/size]

Elite 2: 3 Crisis Suits
PR, Miss. pod, MT + Team Leader with Bonding Knife Total: 196
[size=7pt] I always use these. Anti-light tank and heavy inantry [/size]

Elite 3: 6 Stealth Suis
Targ. Array+ Team Leader with Bondin Knife Total: 250
[size=7pt] Primarily anti-horde and small size unit hunting [/size]

Troops 1: 12 Fire Warriors
All pulse rifles. Devilfish+Decoy Launchers Total: 205

Troops 2: 12 Fire Warriors
All pulse rifles. Devilfish+Decoy Launchers Total: 205

Troops 3: 10 Kroot
Kroot Rifles Total: 70

Fast Attack 1: 3 Piranha's
BC, Targ. Array Total: 195
[size=7pt] These ae tr just to flank and are good against Nids [/size]

Heavy Support 1: Hammerhead Gunship
Railgun, Mt, Decoy launchers, BC Total: 165
[size=7pt] Pretty obvious I think [/size]

Heavy Support 2: Hammeread Gunship
Railgun, Mt, Decoy launchers, BC Total: 165
[size=7pt] 2 is better than 1 [/size]

Heavy Support 3: 3 Broadside Battlesuits
3x Targ. array. Team leader with HW Drone Contr. and 2 Shield drones Total: 275
[size=7pt] I really like broadsides but i rarely use them. So i thought what the heck.. [/size]

Ok so this is the army list I have in mind. So please if you can tell me what you think I will much appreciate it.

If you plan to use him for pure anti-infantry, remove the missile pod. It can only serve two AI purposes - firing on that first turn when you might otherwise be out of range, and killing lightly armored infantry, which you should be able to do anyway. As a backup anti-tank weapon, it will do fine.

Seems they would do better with targetting arrays than the multitracker. When will you fire fusion and BS at the same target? (well, maybe if you deepstrike against rear armor.) You have them equipped to do two different tasks, each with a limited capacity.


The rest of the elites are fine. The targetting arrays make me nervous though. Stealths are soft, making them expensive puts quite a few eggs in one basket. But they will be an unholy terror for your opponent to deal with.

Love the troops description. I think you will be able to put them to good use.

Good luck with the pirannhas. I usually find them more useful as AT-fire magnets in heavily mechanized lists.

Heavy - Your hammerheads are remarkably cheap. I'd love to know how that works out. You have a LOT of railguns. I fear for any mechanized list you face. You should also make a tyranid Godzilla list cry.

Lastly - 2003 points? Will the tournament allow that?

Thanks for the reply Direstrike.

You are right about the Missile pod on the Shas'O. I put it there because we have some enthusiastic transport users over here, and sometimes I find myself out of guns to try and blow those transports up. But I guess he can do without it.

And yes I know targetting arrays on stealth's ... Expensive but i find it's worth it. I used to kill about 6 gaunts a turn on average with stealths. Now I kill about 11 of them.. So I think its worth it.

On the subject of Piranha's. I know most Tau players don't like them that much but i found them a usefull choice overall. Especially against Nids where their wide frontage can tanks shock an entire gaunt unit 12 inch back (using terrrain of course).

Personally I'm a little bit worried about the broadsides. But I really need them against the Godzilla's and AC guard players.

Also the tournament allows for 5 points over the max. limit in case you were wondering

i like the the list list but will it have the fire power against a 2000pt army of MEQ the GEQ i know you can take out wth all them brust canons and HH with the rail gun sub ?

Well I don't worry to much about Marine players on the tournament. The two that are coming really pump up there characters and usually don''t have that many models. The thought of adding more plasma has crossed my mind though. Maybe I'll change Elite 1 in TL plasma rifles
