Hello, I've been posting my army in a few forums to get advice before I commit to buying "unique" models (unique being something I might not end up using). This is about the fourth revamp of the list.
Head Quarters: Commander- 93 pts. Shas'el: Plasma Rifle; Twin-linked Missle Pod; Hard-wired Multi-tracker// Elites: Crisis Suit Team 1- 62 pts. XV8 Crisis Suit: Plasma Rifle; Missle Pod; Multi-tracker// Crisis Suit Team 2- 62 pts. XV8 Crisis Suit: Plasma Rifle; Missle Pod; Multi-tracker// Steath Suit Team- 120 pts Shas'ui: Burst Cannon; Stealth Armor//x4 Troops: Fire Warrior Team 1- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Fire Warrior Team 2- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Fire Warrior Team 3- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Fast Attack: Pathfinder Team 1- 236 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator// Shas'la: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator//x4 Shas'la: Rail Rifle; Target Lock//x3 Devilfish: Seeker Misslesx2// Pathfinder Team 2- 236 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator// Shas'la: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator//x4 Shas'la: Rail Rifle; Target Lock//x3 Devilfish: Seeker Misslesx2// Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship 1- 150 pts. Hammerhead: Railgun; Burst Cannons// Hammerhead Gunship 2- 150 pts. Hammerhead: Railgun; Burst Cannons// TOTAL= 1499/1500 pts. The current strategy (without looking at terrain/opponent type) is to move the pathfinders down the sides of the board painting units and sending seeker missles from squad 1 with squad 2 and vise versa. The painted squads will be hit with stealth suits/fire warriors, Crisis suits are light vehicle/heavy infantry deterant and the Hammerheads are Anti-Armor. Please give any constructive critisizm and point out anything I may not have thought of. David. |

I'm gonna rate this unit by unit
Head Quarters: Commander- 93 pts. Shas'el: Plasma Rifle; Twin-linked Missle Pod; Hard-wired Multi-tracker// I like plasma rifle/missile pod/targeting array/HW multitracker. 97pts and it kills just as well as a shas'o Elites: Crisis Suit Team 1- 62 pts. XV8 Crisis Suit: Plasma Rifle; Missle Pod; Multi-tracker// Crisis Suit Team 2- 62 pts. XV8 Crisis Suit: Plasma Rifle; Missle Pod; Multi-tracker// Keep yourself hidden with JSJ on these 2. The individual suits like this gives you some nice flexibility Steath Suit Team- 120 pts Shas'ui: Burst Cannon; Stealth Armor//x4 Good. I like to take the full squad of 6, but there probably just arent enough pts. Troops: Fire Warrior Team 1- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Fire Warrior Team 2- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Fire Warrior Team 3- 130 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Rifle// Shas'la: Pulse Rifle//x11 Good squads. Shas'ui upgrades are a lot more important nowadays with the new ethereal rules Fast Attack: Pathfinder Team 1- 236 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator// Shas'la: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator//x4 Shas'la: Rail Rifle; Target Lock//x3 Devilfish: Seeker Misslesx2// Pathfinder Team 2- 236 pts. Shas'ui: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator// Shas'la: Pulse Carbine w/ Markerlight Designator//x4 Shas'la: Rail Rifle; Target Lock//x3 Devilfish: Seeker Misslesx2// OK, these are quite the gamble I reckon. Remember that each unit is 236pts tied up in 9 models (including the fish). Against MEQs both teams combined should be able to dish out some pain, but remember, you cant markerlight for your own unit since the pathfinder lights arent networked. Since you dont have markerlights elsewhere in the list the best you can do is 1 unit getting the benefit of the markers. Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship 1- 150 pts. Hammerhead: Railgun; Burst Cannons// Hammerhead Gunship 2- 150 pts. Hammerhead: Railgun; Burst Cannons// Good, but you need a multi tracker and decoy launchers at the very least. I also highly recommend a target lock TOTAL= 1499/1500 pts.

While nice, the advice you have given me doesn't really help. I'm at 1499 points... do you have any recommendations as to where I can cut models to get the things you suggest? (I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but I've gotten the responce "this is better with this" a lot.)

Hi! My 5 cents:
1) don't take railrifles (+60 pts.) 6 more markerlights are far more better 2) now you can drop the second squad of pathfinders - 8 markerlight shots are quite well in 1500 pts. (+206) 2) give bonding knife for shas'ui' (-20 pts.) - 8 Ld (7 Ld after 50% loss) is low. You can lose your expensive squads without knives. 4) take 2 gun drones for shas'ui in pathfinder squad (-20) - 2 more wounds. 5) also you can give your HH and fish MT+decoy l. (-45). Ok. Now you have 182 pts. You can spend them like this: 1) 2 more stealth suits = 60 pts. 2) you can unite your crisis suits (you have 8 markers remember) and give them a leader (Plasma Rifle; Missle Pod; hw Multi-tracker; Targeting Array) = 77 pts. 3) and to make more markerlights give yous FW shas'ui' markerlight + target lock combo. = 45 pts. Thats all.

Some good ideas. Your list really isn't bad at all I'd say, but some of the coments should help. I like your bold attempt to use two pathfinder (PF) squads. To save points you could cut some rail rifles. If you really like rail rifle in PF squads, try using them in only one squad. Dedicate one PF squad to purely marking. It will save some points that you could apply elsewhere.
I justed noticed Kain's comments and see he said the same thing. Sorry for not seeing that earlier. I think taking two PF sqads is okay even thoght I agree one squad at 1500 points should do it. I'd stil give it a try though. You might drop squad suze down to 6 each, but I'd try not to. I would say that uniting your crisis suits isn't really mandatory. You can do the same thing keeping them separate. A solo suit can still be a leader/shas'vre and have access to more gear. Good comments though, I am just offering a different viewpoint. FiveRings |

Hm...your list is somewhat lacking in the anti-tank department. Here's what I have to say about your list.
1)Drop the pathfinders: They are good, but they are better of in a 2K game. They are point sink in a 1500 pts game. 2)Get yourself another hammerhead:They are worth it. 3)Buy the tanks upgrades:You have got to be mad to just leave them bare. Here the stuff that are compulsary in all hammerheads as far as I am concern a)Multitracker:Move 12" and still shoot? This is the best deal man. b)Decoy launcher:This stuff is vital for your hammerheead to not crash so fast. c)Target lock:You can always aim the weapons at another target(but this one is not as important as the Multitraker) d)Distrubtion pod:Obscured target if the tank is fired from 12" away from the hammerhead. 4)Take more fire warriors:More shots is good for a shooting-oriented army. 5)Take kroots:They are good if they are used wisely. But if you don't like to use them, then don't use them. I am not foprcing you to take the kroots. 6)Take bonding and markerlight for your fire warriors: By the look from your list , these guys will be pretty static. So the bonding parts help if the suffer alot of casuaties. The markerligh will enable your squads to help the other stuff in your army, or improve their BS. 7)Make the crisis teams into pairs:2 crisis shooting is better than one. It is smaller target from 3 crisis but more survivable than 1. 8)commander: This dude is decent, but Please improve his Bs! That means Targetting array. This will make it as powerful as a shas'o in shooting. But to be honest, I prefer the shas'o. Get the shas'o a shield generator. This might sound weird but alot of las cannons will be fired at you commander. Overall this list need some serious tuning. Even though a rain of markerlights are good, but the pathfinders will eat up alot of points. But you can take a pathfinder squad if they are around 4-6. That number is just nice. And the rail rifle is not recommended if you want more markerlight shots. But 2 squads of pathfinders is just too much and also a point-sink. As I say before, your list have very little anti-tank capability. Here another option could shine; The skyray. It will give you markerlights and also some surgical strike support.
