There a new codex coming out in november of this year hoping to add a little more fling to the marine army. ive heard there will be emphasis on the emporors champion in it (meaning a plain EC will be realesed )and the other chapter and how to create a chapter as well.

anyone heard anything else?

Hrmm, been alot flying around. Most I have heard form Deamonknight over at 40k.ca which is ussually a good source. Let's see what we can do.

1.) Building your own chapter is possible. They have a system but fromt ehs ounds of it not exactly like the Guard doctrines. You buy advantages with the condition that you buy disadvantages as well. These rate as either Minor or Major flaw/advantage.

2.) Drop pods is something you buy at 30 points it seems and is an actual vehicle. No GW model seen yet so who knows on that. Suppose to be able to upgrade to having a deathwind launcher on it.

3.) Librarians having several grades and powers that can be baught. So a bit like an Inquisitor. Plastic sprues for the Captain and cammand squad meaning you can outfit them with a variety of things. Sprues have been seen and lihghtning claws in plastics are out there.

4.) Whirlwind getting a bit ofa points increase but also supposedly getting some new sort of missile that allows you to lay small minefields on the board. There is a new model for this and let me say it looks good.

5.) The big five chapters are not included in this and as it stands, will still be legal as to such time as they get thier new self contained codex for each chapter at some time in the future.

6.) Auto-cannons are supposedly no longer available for scouts. Plasma cannons now available for all tactical squads, not just the Dark Angels.

also, assault cannon gets an overhaul. veterans get an overhaul (including stuff like veteran skills for free), terminators get a points reduction, plus veteran skills (paid for), apparently librarians get a force weapon and psychic hood standard (not everyone is happy about this) and go up i points, chappies get a new ability and go up about 15 pts, force commanders get to share their leadership around the board, the mortis dread gets shared around, a lesser version of the venerable dread gets shared around

that's all i can remember atm...oh, and isn't it the big four?? dark angels, blood angles, space wolves and black templars??

I think one of em is Ultramarines. Not sure about Black Templar.

No he's right, big four as the Ultramarines basicly are codex though I could be wrong. Part of the fluff of late has had both the Ultramarines and the Crimson fists, long standing hardnosed codex followers reorganizing due to losses in the last tyranid incursion.

ultras will be using codex space marines...as will just about any other chapter you can name...the big four are the big four, as they're the other 4 chapters with large (player) followings and highly different organisation...

I have always considered Ultramarines to be the Marines Chapter. I also hate people who say they suck, as they never have a good reason.

Ultramarines have been neglected as of late, but hopefully things will change now...
