Default Death from above

why am I forever seeing Space Marine Chaplains equipt with jump packs it might as well be part of their standed kit as I always see them deepstriking or on a bike. I'm not saying its beardie it's just that no one uses them any other way. How have YOU equipt your Chaplains?

Well the reason for taking him on a bike/jump pack/deep striking, is to get him to doing what he is good at CQC without taking any casualties or minimal at that. i prefer not to take the chaiplan for a few reasons.
1.) I don't like the model
2.) there over used so I prefer to not use them for something different.

Why would you give the sargeant terminator armor? When getting shot/hit in combat the squad will follow the "majority armor save" rule and will not be allowed his armor save until there are 2 regular marines left. Also there will be no invulnerable save until someone targets the chaplain in which he may take his inv or when the squad is reduced to the sargeant and the chaiplain. It'sn the same basic thing with the sheild drones in the tau squads.

I give my sergeant's Terminator Armour because it's cheaper than Artificer (for me anyway) and because 1 of my sergeants took half an army's worth of shooting at him, including 2 lascannons!!, and survived long enough to reach combat and kill about 4 Salamanders in 2 turns.

WOW

This is exacly what I was on about the way people use chaiplains, I would simply give him a bolt pistol & he could any squad really thats all you really need.

OK, you think that and just wait until he dies to 2 krak missile shots. (Statistically this is all it requires to hit, wound and for him to fail his 4+ invulnerbale save.)

More than likely the dice gods would favor the missiles as the chaiplain not having upgrades upsets them!
And if you changed his upgrades so he would have a 2+ armor after the "missile incident" then you would not beleive ho may ones you would roll for armor saves! The dice gods strike again! >

But seriously I think chaiplains are over used. I also thing that after the first round of combat that you get the charge, the chaiplain is near useless.(unless of course you give him a thunda hamma ;D)
I will stick to my reasons and you may stick to yours, but you will never see me feilding a chaiplain.(maybe if they become t10)
