I've been talking to a friend about doing this little Killteam-ish campaign using the Necromunda system. Basically we both make a small kill-team of Space Marines and make up rules for it, and then we take turns playing them against heavily entrenched enemy positions. If you want a good idea of what we want to do I point you to the campaign in Dawn of War 2. Occasionally we might face off against each other, but not very often.

The reason for this is that we both like Space Marines as they appear in the fluff. Y'know, the whole "One Marine Beats A Thousand Heretics" and all that. My friend is going for a scout squad which is going to be pretty much as they appear in 40k, but on a Necromunda scale. Me, I've always had a soft spot for Librarians, and as such I'd like to make a Librarian with a retinue. Only problem is that my idea of what makes up a Librarian retinue is a bit shaky. So I'd like some idea from you guys? What would make sense?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Fluff wise it depends on the chapter you plan on playing as many chapters just let their librarians run alone or attach themselves to who ever. Now some chapters like the Blood Ravens probably give their Librarians a command squad since they can become Chapter Masters in the Chapter.

Game wise the Librarian might be a HQ unit but its more of a support unit which is why it does not have its own retinue, its suppose to attach itself to any squad that might help it or need its help.

Personnally on something like this I would run the Librarian with Sternguard if in power armor or Termies if in Termy armor. This would make sense even fluff wise as a Librarian, who are typically high up the chain of command, being sent a mission such as this would be given a squad of some of the more elite veterns equipped with the best gear the chapter has available.
