Default Praying

I was wondering Do spacemarines do anything when they pray. I know in the Chatoholic Religion you do the cross on your chest with your Hand. but what do spacemarines do... ???

The only resource I have to go is Dawn of War, where the Marines take a knee and bow to the ground. I'm sure when larger formations are called together to pray, they probably stand at attention with their bolter (or whatever weapon they wield) prepared inspection type position.

The traditional method of Imperial Prayer is the Sign of the Aquila.

To create an Aquila, your right hand should be placed on your chest, fingers together and pointed at your left shoulder, thumb extended outwards. Your left hand should also be placed on your chest (although I do not know which hand goes on top), fingers together and pointing at your right shoulder, thumb extended.

The end result should give an "eagle" shape. Remember to keep your thumbs crossed and seperate, to provide the double-headed appearence. After forming the Aquila, kneel or bow as apropriate.

Yes, the image in Dawn of war seems appropriate for the battlefield at any rate. *Has the feel of the crusading knight praying with thier weapon. *OIn the other hand it's also the stance they used for the unit capturing the points on the map.

Off the battlefield I imagine would depend on the chapter. *Space Wolves(vikings) are going to offer praise to the Emperor diffrently than do the Ultramarines(romans) who would be diffrent from the Templars or the Fists(mideval knights). *

The fluff suggests that the majority though is more in line with the church during the middle ages. *The only thing I can think of reading that was notably diffrent was instead of folding the hands or making the sign of the Cross they make the sign of the Aquilla. *

While it doesn't really explain this the symbol that is the Aquilla is the two headed eagle. *One would assume that this means to make teh sign of the Aquilla the person crosses their wrists over thier chest so the thumbs form the heads and the fingers the wings of a stylized Aquilla.
