Is your opponent able to use the cannon to block LOS to his techmarine so he can't be shot, or is the thunderfire cannon part of the squad?
And can your opponent set it up in the FAR corner of the map, claiming you can't assault the techmarine because you have to stay away 1 inch from his units? Thanks!

Part of the squad if you see the TF you can shoot it, artillery rules say you roll a dice and that determines whether you hit the TF or the TM.
Also artillery follows vehicle rules if you hit it, all sides are armor 10 and any glancing/penetrating hit above "shaken/stunned" destroys it. The only thing that a TF blocks LOS to is the same thing any other vehicle blocks LOS to...anything behind it that isn't part of it's squad. It also doesn't provide cover to the TM...unless you count rolling the die to determine which gets hit. The 1 inch rule only applies "outside" the assault phase...soon as your in it you can happily break that rule all you want.
