Ok so i bought myself a shiny librarian in terminator armour because I wanted a psyker in my army.
So now comes the question 'what is the most appropiate power to take? which ones are better to use, or which make a good combination?' All in all i have a TON of questions about the Librarian powers so if you guys could simply break them down for me in a comprehensive way i'd appreciate it very much. Pros/Cons, Combinations, What units does it work best with/against? I'm doing an Ultramarines army if that helps any.

Just depends what your fighting really.
Gate of Infinity will help a slow terminator libby get around the battlefield...but he's deep striking when he uses it. The anti-tank power is great against monoliths. The rest are kind of up to you, trial and error type stuff.

In all likeliness a Librarian won't win the game for you outright, so you're probably best supplementing your main force. As mentioned above, it depends who you are fighting. Force weapons ftw against Daemons tho!

Force Weapons just count as power weapons against daemons from the daemon's codex, they can only cause instant death against generic greater daemons.

However a Grey Knight Hero Grand Master may still "Slay Outright" which means his force weapon works on EVERYTHING...accept Kharn from chaos as "no psychic powers what soever including the effects of a force weapon" can be used on him.

I reckon you could use a cake gun on him. No way that man doesn't like cake. Especially blood cake.

The Null Zone power really seems to work well for me, but I play against lot's of Tau and Demons. A Librarian is your best friend against Demons. They have to re roll all their saves every turn! And Stuff like Might of the Ancients is helpful for smacking Carnifexes too. It's just all about who your fighting.

My two favourite powers for a Terminator Librarian are Null Zone and Vortex of Doom. Null Zone is good for cracking hard units with invulnerable saves like assault terminators, daemons and warlocks. I also like Vortex of Doom (in principle, haven't used it yet) because it is scary to vehicles and heavy infantry. The only other powers I would consider are Gate of infinity for a foot Librarian leading a squad of shooty terminators or sternguard or Avenger instead of Vortex.
The other powers are pretty 'meh' in my opinion, as they either slightly boost the marginal CC power of a librarian, or glance a vehicle 61% of the time. |

Yeah but that "61%" chance to glance a vehicle is higher then what a Lazcannon gets on a Monolith practically.
How is it 61% you pass on a pyschic check roll of 10 or less only a 2/12 or 1/6 odds of failing it...at least if memory serves on normal marine librarian leadership....isn't that in the 82% range?...it's probably higher when you consider the odds of rolling 1 5 and 1 6 or higher on the dice. As there is only 6 possible combinations to get higher then 10, and 6 possible combinations just to get 7
