What sort of questions do you have about space marine armies? Your topic is very vauge, I mean no offence in that regard.

Marines are an army that is a Jack of all trades, master of none. They are able to successfully accomplish a whole bunch of different roles and are flexible enough to adapt to a changing battlefield rather well. They are not able to match the pure specialized aspects of range and combat some other armies have, but they are able to do multiple jobs with only a handful of units, so they are not shoehorned quite as much into specific jobs.

The models are very resilient and they are armed with powerful basic arment that is devastating against lightly armoured infantry. The different space marine chapters that have different books tend to be a bit more specalized though and may loose out on the 'all roundedness' in exchange for better combat abilities (like Blood angels and Space Wolves).
