This is my own Chapter which I've just started work on, so I understand it will probably need considerable changes. Also, I don't claim to know much in the way of fluff so I'd appreciate it if someone who did would correct me on things that need altering. So, here's the first draft
.[hr] Founding The Silent Brotherhood were created by the High Lords of Terra in the late 40th Millenium. This was mostly due to a request from the Raven Guard, put forward in M39. However, after the Inquisition had gained information about the creation of a new Chapter, particularly a Successor of the of the Raven Guard, they expressed a slight interest in their use, although no more has become of their intrigue, as of yet. Appearance Battle Brother Vakra of the 3rd Company ![]() The Silent Brotherhood have a typically dark colour scheme that is complimented by a deep blue. The company markings aren't symbolized in number or word, just colour alone, and do not follow the strict pattern demostrated in the Codex. Homeworld Only the people of the most high authority truly know where the Silent Brotherhood operate. Other Successor Chapters of the Raven Guard have their suspicions and one or two may think they know, but none can be certain as to their whereabouts. There are also others who speculate, believing that the Brotherhood must be located in a Battle Barge or similar ship, due to the way they attack. The true location of the Brotherhood is on a small moon, called Sepia, which is located in an adjacent region to the Eye of Terror. It's a desolate place, consisting mostly of baron plains and dead forests. This is ideal for the Chapter as their Monastery is located underneath the surface of the moon, and with little interest from opposition due to obvious appearance their secret is hidden. Organization The Chapter only consists of a mere five Companies. Each Company consists of approximately a hundred Space Marines, coming to a total of five hundred in the entire Chapter, which is a seemingly low number. However, this favours them as they're rarely in need of large numbers for the covert operations they enact. When larger battles occur, in which other forces of the Imperium are fighting, it's common for a small group of no more than fifty Marines to carry out stealthy missions, only known to the General and his advisors. HeadQuarters The Silent Brotherhood maintain their vague and mysterious demeanour in nearly all respects, and their council is of no exception. They still have a Chapter Master, and Masters of the Reclusiam, Librarium, Forge and Apothecarion. However, as they only have five Companies their ordering of other Masters is different to most. Naturally they have a Master of the Watch, who is a vital asset to the being of the Brotherhood. The Master of the Fleet is also preset, and he too has a major role in ensuring the fleet is hidden from the enemies and allies alike so they can't be located. And of course, there is a Master of Recruits, who spends a large proportion of their time away from Sepia, searching for likely neophytes. Unlike other Chapters, there is no need for a Master of the Marches as the Brotherhood has no sanctioned system to protect, and the Master of the Watch is generally in charge for actions such as this. There's also little need for a Master of the Arsenal and, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Master of the Forge takes responsibility for those duties. Combat Doctrine The Silent Brotherhood specialise in covert operations. Whilst Scouts may seem like the ideal choice for missions like this they're rarely used, due to their lack of training and the professionalism these missions usually require. As a result, small squads of Tactical Marines are deployed to infiltrate the enemy position and terminate the primary objective. If they fail or come across overpowering opposition then usually Assault Marines will be sent to assist their Brothers, although depending on the circumstance Vanguard Veterans may also come to their aid. However, if the objective is completed then the main force of the Brotherhood will conduct a frontal assault, commonly consisting of Devastators and Sternguard. The latter will usually be mounted in Rhinos to provide support to other units and harass the enemy. Gene-Seed As a Sucessor of the Raven Guard it is only natural that their gene-seed was used. As a result the Space Marines of the Silent Brotherhood all have pale skin tones and prefer to undertake in covert operations before bringing the full force of their deployed force to bear. Recruitment The Master of Recruits and his associates tend to search for commendable warriors on other planets where the people grow up fighting just to get by, but occasionally they look to the ranks of the varying Imperial Guard Regiments, especially the Steel Legion. Once the Master has chosen a number of individuals an Epistolary will search his mind for any fault or taint to Chaos. In the next stage a few Tactical Marines will demonstrate various acts of battle which the aspirants will have to copy and, more importantly, evaluate the manoeuvres. After three more days of rigorous training and regular inspections from members of the Apothecarium the remaining trainees will be judged by the council. If they pass, they will go on to train as Scouts, if not then they're used as Thralls and serve in the Monastery. Armoury There are scant vehicles in the Brotherhood, mainly due to their recent creation and also because the tactics they manipulate tend to concentrate on small units of infantry which need to go undetected. However, all vehicles have their uses and they're still maintained well. The Vindicator is the most popular vehicle employed by the Silent Brotherhood, due to the destruction the Demolisher Cannon can cause and it is highly effective against fortified areas, as is the Thunderfire Cannon. Predators are scarce and only tend to be released when heavy support is needed or a large battle is underway. Land Raiders are extremely uncommon and only two exist within the Chapter, both of which are Redeemers. This is due to the faint amount of Terminators and also because the other variants aren't as effective compared to the Redeemer for the role in which it's used. Rhinos and Razorbacks are contently available, although not extensively used they good for providing rapid support and escorting honoured squads into battle. |

I don't see how the Dark Angels are more suitable than the Raven Guard. If I changed then I'd have add in the fluff about the Unforgiven and how it works for the Silent Brotherhood, and perhaps alterations to the 1st and 2nd Companies. The Dark Angels excel with firepower in the game, from being able to use more Plasma weaponry, and are very tactical in fluff, whereas the Raven Guard dominate in covert warfare, the style of my Chapter.

I was just talking about the secretive order and recruiting people who must fight just to survive. I hadn't really thought about the Unforgiven stuff.

I've added another paragraph to the Armoury section and began work on an Honour Guard for the Chapter Master of the Silent Brotherhood, who'll be following shortly.
