Default Space wolves and the new codex

I am considering starting a space wolves army and I have both the space wolves and space marines codexes but I was wondering what changes (if any) should be made

the space wolves fluff mentions them using drop pods so I don't see any reason to not have these, and there is a picture of a space wolves drop pod in a white dwarf so there we are

rhinos, should I use the price set out in the new book or in the space wolves one (which would make it more expensive) same thing with other vehicles

are there any other new units which i would be allowed to take, obviously not those veterans but things like Ironclads or thunderfire cannons or come to think of it, land raider crusaders/redeemers do not feature in the space wolves codex, (old FAQ says that crusaders are 0-1 but what about redeemers)

also, should I wait for a new codex before starting because rumour has it that a new one is on the horizon

I believe all of these questions are answered in the new Space-wolves FAQ.

To quote the FAQ: "Will Not Teleport: Simply means that Space Wolves in Terminator armour cannot Deep Strike on their own by teleporting (but they can use a Drop Pod)."

"Space Wolves vehicles: Use the point costs and rules from Codex: Space Marines for
Dreadnoughts, Land Speeders, Attack Bikes, Whirlwinds, Predators, Land Raiders and
Vindicators. All of the different variants and options available to these units in a Space Marine
army are also available to the Space Wolves. The exception to this is the Venerable Dreadnoughts,
which must be chosen from the Space Wolves army list (as detailed on page 7), and not the Space Marines army list."

Hmm sorry for the threadjack, but sincs SW cant teleport, shouldn't they get Droppods at a reduced cost?

BTT I would wait for the new codex, well if it comes soon.
Im waiting for DE to get a new codex and some plastic models before i start them.

I think we can take Iron clads as it is a variant of a dreadnaught as stated in the FAQ we can also take 3 crusaders now if we wished or 3 redeemers.

Thunder fire cannons can't be taken unless as an allied unit I guess.

Why would we get drop pods for cheap? That is an old rule that might get switched out but I doubt it.

You could wait for the new wolves codex but why bother? Not as much will change in it I bet as say in the dark eldar codex which is ancient and will probably mostly be rewritten and have an entire new line of models put out with it as well. Grey hunters and blood claws will remain the same. They might release a few more specially units like blood claw bikes/jump packs and perhaps the leman rus that the wolves can get but not much will change. Oh and hopefully they will add wolfen into the book that would be sweet.

Space Wolves can take the options listed in their codex for the prices listed in the newest Marine codex.

So they can take a rhino or a predator at the cost listed in the new Marine codex, but they can't take a Ironclad dread or a Land Raider Redeemer because those options aren't listed in their codex.

Go ahead and start collecting now. There is a new codex coming, but you'll still be able to use all the stuff you buy now with the new codex.

Yes they can actually, as quoted above the Space Wolf FAQ says the Wolves can take all vehicle variants except Venerable Dreadnaughts. In fact Space Wolves can also technically take Tellion and Chronus as well.

They might be able to take chronus but I am not to sure about taking telion as he is an upgrade for the seargent of the scout squad and well.. we don't have a scout squad seargent.

Im not sure about the costs of rhinos and razorbacks going down cause it doesn't mention them in the list of what vehicles to use from the marine codex. I'm not sure as it says in their unit entry how much each one should cost if mounted in such transport. We go off the unit entry from the codex marines as there is not one in our codex.

We also cant give razorbacks to squads over 6 models. Saw some one doe that before.

If only they worked this hard on the BA FAQ.

Q.
Quote:
How do you work out the
victory points for a Death
Company squad?
A. The victory points of a Death Company squad is equal to the total points value of any additional Death Company models and extra wargear purchased for the squad. For example: a Blood Angels army contains six units that allow one Death Company model to be added to the initial unit composition of the Death Company squad. This six-strong initial squad is a normal scoring unit worth 0 victory points. If the player decides to add two models to the squad (+60 pts) and to equip the entire squad with Jump Packs (8 x 5 pts, for a total of +40 pts), the squad is now worth 100 Victory Points.
Thanks, for the help GW! Especially since now we rarely use vicory points. If you all are wondering, this is the whole Blood Angels FAQ.

I know this is about Space Wolves but what about us still using the BA codex? Has anyone heard anything? Originally I thought that we would just continue using the BA codex as we have been, (like when the Daemon Hunters still use their Assault Cannon and not the SM or IG). But when I saw this change for the Space Wolves I was wondering if they were doing something similiar for the BA? They haven't said anything > ???.........

Here's the link to the Space Wolves FAQ.
