IMPERIAL TALONS
![]() The Imperial Talons are a 3rd founding chapter from the Imperial Fists. After the first founding it is thought that Imperial Fists decided that a new type of chapter was needed, to be able to perform well in close quarter fighting, long range fire fights or in hand to hand combat. Although the Codex Astartes was used to fulfil all criteria the Imperial Fists felt that there wasn't enough cohesiveness between all squads. A chapter that could train it's marines to work together no matter their apparent use on the battlefield. All the battle brothers would be trained together no matter their specialisation and taught rigidly in all forms of war, that is to say in more detail than other chapters and thus it would take longer to be promoted to a Devastator squad or an Assault squad. The idea at first was opposed, it would take too long to train recruits extensively, the Chapter would take longer to get to full strength and any losses would be a heavy blow to the chapter. To get around the extensive time period of training marines would be put in tactical squads after the normal training period, (as used by chapters who followed the Codex Astartes) then the marines would 'swap positions' in the squad after battles and while not in battle marines would learn from battle brothers of higher positions the skills of using advanced weapons, strategies and combat arts. Although this would damage the ability of the squad on the whole, losses would not be felt as much as all the marines could take up any position in the chapter with plenty of experience to go by. After these rules were set for the chapter, a Commander of the Imperial Fists, one Jermain Grathlon, was given the position of Chapter Master and other positions in the chapter were filled via veterans of the Imperial Fists and it's 2nd founding Chapters. So began the recruiting and training period. When the chapter was judged of acceptable skill and was at full strength, the chapter went on a crusade into the eye of terror. Their first encounter was on the planet of Ralthon V, Daemons had infested the planet ,and along with companies from the Iron Hands and the Angels of Redemption chapters, the planet was cleansed efficiently. Ralthon V was the first of many, and soon other threats were exterminated as the chapter progressed through the eye of terror. Then, when the fleet of ships that carried the chapter passed through some of the first worlds they encountered, a call for aid was received from Omilous II, the chaos rebellion they had supposedly quelled was now dug in and well numbered. Chapter Master Jermain went with the 1st, 4th and 5th companies to eradicate the rebels, joining up with the planetary defence force on the surface. Initial skirmishes went well for the marines and they were poised to destroy the remaining rebels. However the Chapter Master had underestimated the true extent of chaos, it's tendrils range far and wide into the minds of many. The PDF's High Command's egos had been fueled tenfold by Khorne. They would not let some posh guys in shiny armour steal their glory! Deeming the Imperial Talons heretics, word was sent and received, the orders were clear, the marines would fall! A mass collection of plasma weapons and other powerful weapons would have been thought suspicious in other circumstances, but as they prepared to storm the cities left and end the rebellion, the marines would have thought it only natural for such weak minded fools to gather mounds of weaponry that would not be needed, they would see the true power of the space marines as they easily breached the cities walls and would not make the same mistake twice. However, as the marines initiated their final assaults, the order was given and hell was brought to the space marines from an unexpected side. In what was to be the worst day in the history of the Imperial Talon's existence, almost the entire 4th company and around half of the 5th company, fell to the heretic's guns, as foul mutants emerged, once stern commisers and proud guardsmen, now bloodthirsty playthings of Khorne. CHAPTER COLOURS The Imperial Talons wear deep red armour with bone a coloured imperial eagle on the chest plate. The shoulder trim designates the company as per the Codex Astartes. The 1st company have gold trims and a gold imperial eagle on the chest plate as they are the veteran company. The 2nd company have yellow trims as a reminder that they of the Imperial Fists gene-seed. The 3rd company have white trims. The 4th company have bone coloured trims. The 5th company have orange trims. The 6th company have purple trims. The 7th company have pink trims. The 8th company have blue trims. The 9th company have green trims. ![]() 1st Company. ![]() 2nd Company. ![]() 3rd Company. ![]() 4th Company. ![]() 5th Company. ![]() 6th Company. ![]() 7th Company. ![]() 8th Company. ![]() 9th Company. PRO OMILOUS DISASTER; CHAPTER COLOURS After the Omilous disaster, the 4th company painted both shoulder pads, and the 5th company their right shoulder pad, a mourning black in memory of their fallen brothers and their deep hate for chaos. to this day the 4th and 5th companies distrust the Imperial Guard regiments and will only fight with them as their allies when their Chapter Master commands them to. ![]() Current 4th Company. ![]() Current 5th Company.

seems to be some really well thought out fluff, i cant see any obvious flaws, i especially like the mourning scheme on the 4th company, (5th looks a little odd in the pic simply due to it looking lop sided but on a minature i am sure it would be good)
out of interest have you painted any miniatures? what company will you do? |

Thank you.
Not yet I'm afraid, I need some red paint which hopefully I can get on Monday. As for the company... hmm... I'm not sure to be honest, I was thinking of the 4th company... hmm... I don't know, which would you like to see? EDIT - I've added the 2nd company marine from the GW website.

I think it's pretty good. You've done a good job on the fluff and kept it 'within 'limits' which I think is pretty hard and possibly harder with a Chapter already made by Games Workshop.
My favourite company so far is the 4th and I think the way you altered them and the 5th company is good. They're also the company I think you should do as they look the best and are more fluffy. The only thing I want pick out is that Marines train each other in the use of specialist weapons. Now I can understand Sergeants and Veterans doing that but it just strikes me as odd that say a Devastator Marine would train a Tactical Marine to fire a a Lascannon, for example. It would seem more logical if the one teaching the Tactical Marine was their [Veteran] Sergeant. |

Thanks, yes I will be doing the 4th .Well there are only two Dev' sergeants and 54(?) normally ranked tactical marines per chapter, so if it was just the sergeants it might take a while .EDIT- Per company sorry, 54(?) NRTMs per company :P.
