Just a quick question, I know it's rare but it's certainly not unheard of for Marines to be exiled from a chapter for certain misdeeds.

I was just wondering, if Marines are exiled to live an existance on their own then how does the chapter regain its geneseed from the battle brother if he were to fall?

They could just send him to a planet where there is no escape, or do what the Space Wolves do and send their undesireables to other Imperial organisations but these are just theories of mine.

well i was reading and it said there is this thing called a death oath i belive which started with the ultramarines, i pretty much is what you said except you have to fight a suicicdal mission and if you make it then it proves you will fight to the death for the emperor and you are worthy to be back in your rank, you might be thinking of that (im almost postivive you are)

I created my own chapter based on this idea. The Angels of Truth accept all of the undesirables from other Chapters (such as wolf blade.) Some marines don't agree with their commanders, but still wish to do the will of the Emperor, therefore they join this chapter. Though it is a small chapter, the other chapters don't take their geneseeds back, as they are seen as defective. Thereby the chapter is safe to grow slowly.

It is an interesting concept, but how do they find the rejects? And how do they keep the extremely precious geneseed and power armor?

As I said, the other legions see the exiled marines as having "defective." I'm still trying to come up with the fluff for how they find them. I don't think they'd be the type of chapter who can easily/safely advertise their presence.

A Death Oath is given to a Space Marine who is banished from his Chapter. A Death Oath places a mission on the shoulders of the Space Marine which, if completed, will allow him to regain his lost honour and be reinstated within the Chapter should he survive. The missions given to a Space Marine with a Death Oath are usually suicidal as the Chapter Master feels that only by completing such tough tests of courage and strength can honour be regained.

Sneaky Git, I am fully aware that Marines can be exiled and often are made to face near suicidal missions to prove themselves. My question is as Black Mage put it, how does the chapter hope to regain the geneseed and power armour that the exiled Marine was using?

not sure, maybe they send them off and an apothecary takes there geneseed after there all dead or they have an apothecary follow them around during the mission

Or possibly the Inquisition follow them around or the Adeptus Mechanicus?

Or maybe, just maybe, an Imperial guardsmen with a knife, a metal detector, test tubes and a syringe. ;D (For everyone that didn't notice, this last option is a joke).

If i was marine i would tie a guardsmen to my bolter and have him shoot so i could have a flashlight on my bolter ;D
