Can Blood Angels (and their successor chapters) use Assault Squads...
As Troop choices?? ??? I have been wondering this for a while now...

Have you downloaded the codex from the GW website because it will make it clear.
linky Answer = yes. They can also take veteran assault squads as elites. @warriorchris there are kinder ways to say things.

The pure assault squad Blood Angels force is actually very common, especially in 1000 point games. They can really pack in a lot of hurt and are quite fast moving, against some foes they are utter devestating, though it is a force with a few weaknesses.

Good. After I get my honor guard, I need to get mostly Assault squads then... And I need to get jump-packs for my death company and commander, and I need to get the assault chaplain... @.@ pricey...

If you plan on taking a chaplain with jump pack you may as well just take Lemartes. He's only five points more and he gets an extra wound and his death mask.
Mind you the model for Lemartes is uglier than an orks butt, but you can pretty much just use any chaplain w/ jump pack model to "Count as" him. Honour guard are good, but don't get to carried away with upgrades, however apothecaries are pretty bad ass.

Remember that Apothecaries only work when they are not locked in close combat. So make sure you put them in a unit that can get close to assaults, but doesn't need to get involved itself.

Actually I just find its handy to have one in a squad that wants to close quick and might have to take some risks getting there. It lets you absorb a couple of extra shooting hits on the way in keeping that assault unit intact for the actual battle. As I recall they're quite reasonably priced in a BA list.
