You now have two scoring units that can each fulfill different roles.

The two most common units to use and take great advantage of this wonderful rule are tactical squads and devestator squads.

Split the tactical squad so that a sergeant with a combat weapon and the special weapon are in one half while the heavy weapon trooper is in the other half. The sergeant squad can advance and get into range to use its special weapon and then get the sergeant into combat while the squad with heavy weapon can hang back and shoot.

The other use is for devestator squads. Split up the squad so that each group of five has 2 heavy weapons, it lets you spread out your fire more, gives you more scoring units and makes it harder for your opponent to deal with.

You should never under estimate the ability to have 12 scoring units from 6 troops choices. I've seen this done at a lot of tournments recently (since the DA codex came out there has been a flux of them in my area) If the winner needs a scoring unit to hold an objective and another to take the objective across the board then having that amount of flexilble units is quite handy.

Please clean up your posting, thnx is not a word, and lol is not amusing or mature. This is a forum for serious discussions, it's good that you have questions and appreciate the help but please take the time to post properly.

Actually, lol is acceptable, it's pretty much anything beyond that.

Lol is still leet/chatspeak. Whether by letter or spirit of the rules, it's not really acceptable, and throwing in things like "lol" doesn't do much for your credibility as a poster.

A question I had - since squads are split at deployment, could you, say, take a Razorback for a squad that clearly wouldn't fit in it and then mount up one of the Combat squads?

If "lol" Isn't exceptable, it really should be. Anything else like "Lmao, rofl, thnx" and the like shouldn't be though.

Yes; BUT remember that squads in reserve cannot be deployed as a combat squad. Also in an escalation mission any squad with a transport MUST start in reserve. You see where this is going?

In non-escalation games its a great tactic to have 5 marines zipping forward and then deploying with a razorback behind them, especially while their buddies are hanging back with a heavy weapon.

In escalation games however... Well you get 10 marines footslogging in on turn 2 at the earliest while their emtpy APC rolls along beside them.

"Escalation?" What is the "escalation" you speak of?

We don't play it very often ever, that I've seen, so it's not that bad.

Thanks for the clarification on the basic rule .
