Default HQ choice

What would be another good HQ choice for a command squad besides Librarian?

Should I get a regular Chaplain or a Chaplain in terminator armor?

Chaplain in Jump packs is always a nasty thing indeed with an assault squad.

Commanders can make your entire army Ld 9 or 10, plus can be a melee powerhouse on their own. Chaplains with jump packs are awesome for leading your assault squads. If you're willing to shell out the points, a chaplain, with terminator armour and twin lightning claws, leading a squad of 7 assault terminators, preferrably transported in a Land Raider Crusader, are absolutely devestating in CC. I have seen such a squad walk through most of a 1000 point Traits Marine army by itself, losing only one terminator the whole time. On the other hand, the whole set up is something like 700 points.

I hope you havent seen that squad since the LRC can only hold 7 terminators. Though yes that squad does quite well in tearing people apart in a turn or so.

That is incorrect. A Land Raider Crusade is capable of carrying up to 8 models in TDA.

And that's one of my favorite point-sinks...

Well yes, but 3 ~80pt Light Skimmers (Land Speeders, Vypers, Piranhas) can easily destroy the Crusader and isntantly kill anyone inside, thus allowing around 220pts of Skimmers to wipe out 700+ points of Marines. Putting so many points into a single unit is rather foolish and the Assault Terminators + Chaplain is (in my experience) extraordinary overkill against almost everything. It's usually far more effective to take cheaper, faster, and more numerous assault units.

Such as a cheap Chaplain attatched to a cheap Assault Squad with a sergeant with a powerfist. Fearless, 11 strong squad, with tons of attacks on the charge that re-roll to hit with a healthy number of power weapon and power fist attacks.

Or a Command squad with a Chaplain and Captain/Librarian is fairly effective. With Furious Charge and mounted in a Land Raider Crusader it's not nearly as expencive as Assault Terminators and can take even less cassualties thanks to the added initiative of Furious Charge allowing the squad to kill most targets before they can strike back.

A Chapter Banner Works well for these squads as well. In the likely event you are charged then you can counterattack and get an additional attack.

Oh but of course. Like I said, only if you're willing to shell out the 700 points. I know it can be easily destroyed, I was just pointing it out. It might be somewhat viable in very large point games (4k and up; Apocalypse anyone? :P).
