i have been musing over what army i want to collect next (its a long list that has every army i dont currently have on it :
)i have now started re-considering space marines (i have a ravenwing and multi-wing dark angels army at the minute) these are the chapters i am thinking of: Black Templars (i love the colour sceme and the fluff/ battle tactics) Imperial Fists (teleport assault )Blood Ravens (i just finished Dawn of War again ^-^) Red Scorpions (i like their fluff/models but they are just a normal chapter with purity above all) i want an assault based army so id say black templars is the first thing that springs to mind. i also want to go mechanised and ive never seen black templars using transports so im guessing this is not usual. BTW - i have about 20 marines and 3 rhinos spare at the moment from my dark angels that i can convert and i can spend no more than about £100 (at a guess $180) on new stuff so im only aiming for around 1000 points at the minute i hate making lists/coming up with ideas > ![]() any help is appreciated

You could always do space wolves. They are heavily assault based with blood claws as troops. Throw them all in rhinos and maybe get a bike squad and you'd have a pure mechanized assault army.

theres something about the space wolves that doesnt appeal to me and i cant put a name to it.
plus i think that black colour scemes are cool (leaning towards black templars/red scorpions again)

I was going o say Salamanders before I read your posr, but whatever..
I would say go with Red Scorpions since I have not seen anybody really play them. Oh and if you do do (doodoo heh) RS's then I think you should buy the FW stuff for them.

Black Templars? Not mechanized? What?!?! :sadnshocked: Dude, that's how I always play my Templars! LRCs and Rhinos are the best thing since sliced bread. Heres a few mechanized squads that I like:
Crusader Squad - 219 points -8x Initiate -7x Bolt Pistol/CCW -1x Bolter -1x Power fist + Bolt Pistol (buy for bolter marine) -1x Meltagun -8x Frag Grenades -Rhino -Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers Its big enough to have some decent punch at CC, but also has room for a character to ride with them, like the Emperor's Champion. The marine with PF/BP also has a bolter so that the squad may be prevented from charging if it would be unfavorable for you (only applicable if you use Accept Any Challenge). And of course, once they dismount from the rhino (assuming its still alive) it then moves to block LOS to them from enemies they can't reach. Crusader Squad - 223 points -5x Initiate -4x BP/CCW -1x Bolter -1x Power Fist + BP (again, bolter marine) -1x Meltagun -5x Neophyte -5x BP/CCW -10x Frag Grenade -Rhino -Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers Its just a few points more than the other squad, but its bigger, preventing the inclusion of a character. But otherwise, it works pretty much the same way. Crusader Squad - 475 points -7x Initiates -6x BP/CCW -1x Bolter -1x PF+CCW -1x Melta -7x Neophyte -7x BP/CCW -Land Raider Crusader -Smoke Launchers Now, this squad is loaded for bear, and backed by an LRC to boot! This squad doesn't include frags, due to the assualt launchers of the LRC, but they can be bought if you have the points to spare. They still have room for a character, too. Sword Brethren Assault Terminator Squad - 588 points -8x Sword Brethren Assault Terminators -4x Lighting Claws -4x Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield -Land Raider Crusader -Smoke Launchers This squad is extremely expensive, but they can rip through just about anything you throw them at. One thing I have tried (makes them more expensive still), is trading one of the LC guys for a Terminator Chappy with dual lightning claws; they tore through my opponent's Trait Marines army almost entirely by themselves, losing only one Terminator. However, I would only recommend this squad for large point games; at 1000 points, its kinda cheesy to do, at 1500 points such a point-heavy squad doesn't work so well (at least in my experience), but 2000+ it should be fine. I hope this helps you make your decision. Mech Templars FTW!

![]() im not the only one who wants mech templars!!!!! (and all of the guys i know who dont are in the minority )my original idea was (with no idea about equipment yet): Chaplain High Marshal 10 man sword bretheren squad infiltrating 10 man sword bretheren squad infiltrating 10 man crusader squad with rhino 10 man crusader squad with rhino 10 man crusader squad with rhino 10 man crusader squad with rhino 8 man assault squad 8 man assault squad dunno points, but that seems about right (and i forgot about the emperors champion, he should be there somewhere i know.) i am undecided about terminators though. i play as grey knights quite often so i know how harsh they can be in assault but they are VERY points heavy (especially as i HAVE to give mine furious charge whenever possible - stupid I4 GK Terminators )
