Default Black templar help.

Hey. I'm trying to find the best way to get black templars into assault without taking many casualties.

I've been drafting lists using mainly transports (like rhinos)

So far. I have for 1,500 pts. I have 3 main squads. 2 rhinos and a LRC

For 1,000pt. 3 rhinos.

I also have a weird 1,500 list. that uses. bikes for forward movement to lock up some squads, then use drop pods to get 2 squads in. and a rhino with my command squad would run up as well.

The main issue I am having is...what would the best disembarking tricks be?

I go aginst Drop pods, being...Well, I can't afford any :P. Also it's that it scatters 2d6 off target and if you get within 1" of an enemy they are dead...

Rhinos are my prime selection in transports.

LRC are great

But mostly what is prime for me is to stay out of the enemy's line of sight. You have no idea how mnny time cover saves and barely out of sight models have cost my enemy dearly.

One thing to keep in mind, Methelas, is that Drop Pods reduce their scatter by enough to not be destroyed by landing too close to an enmey.

That being said, I agree, rhinos are great for their points. LRCs are great, due to the fact that they are also scoring, and they have enough firepower to be a HUGE threat once their troops disembark, and they are the only transport we have that allows the unit to charge out of it.

However, I usually find that its very hard to get into CC without taking at least a few casualties on the way in, so don't beat yourself up if you do lose some guys. Don't be surprised if not all the rhinos make it. Also, another idea would be to use Assault squads; these guys are brilliant. ;D

Hope that helps.

One Idea is to take three extremely powerful squads in land raider crusaders with the blessed hull upgrade. That might be fun and might work but probably not.

Assault squads work best at, well...assaulting. Keep your army highly mobile with the aid of Tornadoes and transport you mandatory troop selections to the front line be means of Rhinos. A LRC works best with a command squad/assault terminator squad, both of which are extremely costly when coupled with the Crusader.
Thank the Emperor Landspeeders are cheap for their support abilities. You should have no problem at all with fitting all this into a 1500 pt list effectively.

I dont think theres a bad suggestion here. It really is what you make of it.
I prefer the Assault Squad approach, More bodies for the enemy to think about, and coupled with LSpeeders to distract from the real threats.
