Default Space marine HQ squad Theory.

I have actually discovered that it is possible but expensive for Vanilla Marine players to take an all jump pack Command Squad.
First what we need is say a Master with jump pack etc, Then attach a chaplain (counts as same hq choice), then give the sarge termie honours, give him a jump pack, Then have the 3 specialists (apothecary, bannerbearer, Company champ) with termie honours give them jump packs, take Infiltrate as a vet skill Voula Speedy CSM like 1st turn assault unit.
By the way this cant be done with bikes as the dex states only characters without a retinue may take a Bike.
Yours sincerely 33rd Sirician redbacks

Problem is that there will always be at least 1 model in the unit without access to the armoury due to the minimum squad size for a command squad. Now you could try to get that one model killed before you get your turn, but then you'll be stuck with a turn 2 assault as your opponent will most likely be able to see him (remember you can infiltrate just outside 12 or 18 inches)

Man, the number of times we've heard this...

Like Fish Ead said; can't be done. :P

Why add a Chaplain though? I don't get that bit. Do you think attached ICs each count as one of the five squad members?

I believe that's what he was shooting for. Ead did mention a feasible tactic by using any extra members without Jump Packs as cannon fodder the first turn after infiltrating. Infiltrate them just over 12 inches in the open and give them a Heavy Weapon so if you get first turn you can punish the enemy, if not then remove the extra; if your opponent returns fire after you get first turn you remove the non-Jump Pack infantry as casualties and assault as intended getting the charge. This makes the Chaplain a viable addition.
Feasible but not very efficient, the whole strategy makes me uncomfortable.

Not only that it's abominably expencive. The base cost of the marine, plus the specialist cost, plus the terminator honors cost, and then plus the jump pack cost. Your looking at single wound models as expencive as Captains and multiple of them. Hardly a competetive option by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh oops I thought it was 1sgt and 3-9 marines it isnt damn!, No tom I dont think it adds to squad size I just think the chaplain enhances the CC power of the squad

Note. I didn't intend my lil blurb to come off as an actual strategic recomendation. Just a rather silly possibility

im nearly 100% sure it says, to some extent, that if the sarg has honors, then any marine can take honors for +(censored) points

It does, but that doesn't matter. Just because they get Terminator Honours doesn't mean they get armoury access.
