I equip mine for close combat, give the sarge a teleport homer, and infiltrate them close. I try to get into hand to hand on a flank, when the terminators arrive the scouts roll out the red carpent.

Now the enemy isn't worrying about the scouts on his flank, now he's worrying about the terminators that are there. It's a great tactic, but it's a little risky if your opponent knows what's up.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

Scouts don't always hold out the best in Hand to Hand, but they can do wonders there. A homer is a good idea on them if you do run terminators.

I usually set up as a long range defense unit and infiltrate sort of close to the enemy. I personally like sniper rifle/missile launcher.

Scouts would do well in assault against lighter troops like guardsmen and fire warriors. They have above average stats but they aren't at the same level as MEQs. As far as I can see their main advantages are that they don't cost much and can infiltrate so they don't run into any cc specialists. The teleport homer is a good idea because they'll definitely need support at one point or another in the game. I think that they're main purpose would be to tie things up and hit weaker shooty squads so that the rest of the cc units can come in and help them out. They'll work but don't send them in against specialists and don't expect to much killing to be done by them.

And I actually have a question for the marine players here that relates to cc scouts. Do you guys use pistols/ccws or shotguns when you've got a unit meant for doing damage.

CCWs and BPs are fairly mainstream though I think the Blood Angels codex has Shotguns listed at S 4 which would make me think twice. If I spent the money on Terminator Honors to get the Teleport Homer then I'd rather have them all armed for CC. Otherwise, two shots before the assault is always a plus.

I personally field a sniper squad and switch out a heavy bolter or missile launcher special as i see fit. I see the ability to keep a squad pinned at range, in addition to forcing some casualties as much more valuable than throwing them in to CC just to get hacked down eventually.

I like the Sniping idea better then the homer beacon idea(CC idea) because of the ability to pin down and having a missle launcher which i would do just seems to fit into my army more though i would like to see how well the shotguns work in a CC squad. i will test these units out to see who i like thx alot guys ;D

The sniper squad with a missile launcher is nice, being able to infiltrate into position for a side armour shot is a great asset.
