Default the iron hands.

is it just me or did the iron hands just kind of fad into obscurity? thats kind of odd for a first founding chapter

Admittedly there are very few people that play them - probably mostly due to inavailability of models, and people being put off by the amount of conversion required. Plus the paintjob's a bit boring.

I think it's the empathy envolved and the lack of GW support for them.

For a lot of people they want to really get into their army, it's hard to do with an army that is obsessed with making themselves more machine than human. However the Iron Hands are very cool, though I've never seen an army of them before. However there was a great one at the Vegas GT, lets see ah HERE it is and a very cool army it is and very well done. However doing that is rather costly, having to order the parts from GW gets expencive fast, far more expencive than most marines.

Perhaps they're too chaosy for most Space Marine fans? Personally I fell in love with Space Marines for their sense of duty and honour; they carry a certain stalwart knight image that I love. But the Iron hands are a very reclusive and just don't have the same explosive flamboyance flaunted by other chapters...guess that's what I love about the Imperial Fists. I dunno, I just can't associate with an Imperial army that despises every trace of its humanity.

I wanted to get Iron Hands.. only problem was having to order them from the other side of the world.

For a plain force though, yeah it is a bit well.. plain. Though that GT Army is nice, evidently took a lot of work though.

I wouldn't exactly say there are traitor versions of all chapters. Some chaos legions have no loyalist parallel, and vice versa. But in this instance you might say the Iron Warriors are their counterpart. And boy do they have some great rules! I want to make an Iron Warriors army...I really love the colour scheme. ^-^

As far as I know, no to both questions. All Space Marine chapters are either loyalist or traitor if I'm not mistaken; with the exception of Dark Angels where they have the Fallen. The Iron Hands are loyalist; though I don't know about an equivalent chaos legion though. But Iron Warriors sounds like a good bet

Actually Tom, considering both the Imperial Fists and the Iron Warriors were both siege specialists, The Imperial Fists would probably be a better choice as the loyalist parallel. In fact didn't Perturabo (I think thats the Iron warriors primarch...) have a complete and utter hatred for Rogal Dorn, as Dorn would get praised for his sieges and Perturabo would just be rushed off to the next siege... I'm pretty sure thats what Horus was able to exploit to turn him and his legion to chaos...

Yeah, that's right. The Iron Warriors are definitely the Imperial Fists' counterpart, but he asked which chaos legion had most in common with the Iron Hands. And why are we assuming it's mutually exclusive anyway? Can't the Iron Warriors share similarities with two or more loyalist chapters?
