Default Salamanders, where to start...

Hello, I'm new to this site, introduced to it by my 40K addicted brother, and I'd thought I'd join in time for the online Campaign.

I bought a Battle for Macragge set, which is still coming into the mail, stupid UPS trucks...

Anyways, I'd love to have some advice, and I know some of the basic rules, as my big brother, as mentioned before, has invited me over to his dorm to play 40K with him and his roommates, I was wondering if...

Weapons were dual-wieldable, like, double Flamers.

If it's possible to use multiple, (meaning 5 or more) Techmarines. (As I find Adeptus mechanicus to be pritty interesting)

If custom built small Titans, could be used, with a reasonable point usage.

And anyu other parting advice you'd like to give to a new 40K player.

The Emperor Protects!

Hello, welcome to the site! On to the questions.

1)No sorry, most of the time you can't, Unless you get Tau, their battlesuits can, or you can model it like that, but it can't count as having two. Also, "Dual wield" will be "twin-linked" in game terms.

2)With the trait "Scions of mars", yes you could get up to 5 Techmarines, but you would be sacrificing all your elite and HQ choices. (If you don't understand just ask)

3)In friendly games, yes, if your opponent agrees.

Other advice? Don't go out and buy lots and lots of models straight away, you'll never get them painted. :P

ya thats true and another thing...personally speaking techmarines aren't really anything special, even when they have their servitors (who are weaker than other marines), but not to be bias they are pretty useful in an army chock full of vehicles. But as (Durza) said before u have to sacrifice ur Elite and HQ which leaves your army with almost no diversity, which means less tactics and choices on the battlefield
Good luck wit ur amry

Whoa majesty, check your spelling, take the time to write out words properly, and there is always the spell check button.

Well the sallies already have some traits in the marine codex. Scions of Mars isn't one of them, but you can still get a techmarine. 5 would be a lil excessive if you ask me. What you do get is the possibility of double special weapons in a squad and the option to try for an extra turn.

Your best bet would be to get a good number of tactical marines to start with a commander. Oh and the codex. If you want to keep things fluffy, try to include a good number of melta and flame weapons in the army as the Salamanders tend to prefer these weapons. A techmarine would fit well as and can be useful due to his ability to fix vehicles and provide shooting re-rolls. Plus he's no slouch in close combat (especially if you give him the servo harness)

Don't know what I'm talking about? All the more reason to pick up a codex

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting a codex soon, after I get the money.

After the Battle for Macragge a codex should be your next purchase. It's got lots of great pictures and background, and has all the information you NEED to play your army. I know they look expensive, but believe me, they're worth it.

Yay! Salamanders! Salamanders have their own set of traits in the back section of the codex (when you get it). Some salamanders specifics are:

Flamers
Heavy Flamers
Meltagun
Multi-melta
Adamantium Cloak
Thunder Hammer
Fury of the Ancient psychic power

On average sallies have more terminators and artificer armor and less fast things like land speeders, bikes, and assault troops.

For some back ground you could go through the Armageddon codex.

Hope this helps

Salamanders have always been my favourite marine chapter I must say. I simply love their fluff, rules and looks...I guess everything about them. Anyways, try to keep us posted about your progress with them, as I've always wanted to see how a full fledged army of them fares.
