Default Techmarines as ICs

Normally players wouldn't recommend taking these badarse superhumans without a retinue of mindless Servitors to take bullets. I would like to experiment employing them by themselves and attaching them to Assault/Tactical squads.

I checked out a 2006 Errata that said nothing about Techmarines being able to have jump packs. Don't bring up the bike option, I don't have any and personally think they have no place on the battlefield.

So, can I take a Techmarine w/servo harness and a jump pack?

Yes, they have access to the armory and nothing in their profile gives them much in the way of restrictions.

Just give him two jump packs to compensate for the extra weight

I think there used to be something on the old GW forum that disallowed it, but it died with the forum itself.

What gives the Techmarine access to the armory? When someone said techmarine on a bike I went looking for it and couldnt find anything that said they could buy equipment from the armory.

Space marine techmarines have access to the armoury. Its hard to see but I think its in the description of what weapons they have available.

A tooled up techmarine is a combat monster, they can be very good.

Well if you can give a chaplain a jump pack and attach him to an assault squad, why not a Techmarine? I sense a conversion coming on...your best option would probably be to use one of the old Techmarines with the single servo-arm, get a jump pack and build it into the existing backpack with copious amounts of greenstuff, plasticard etc. If you want a full servo-harness, you could probably make one out of spare bitz (plasma pistols for plasma cutter, spare tac squad flamer etc).

Lots of wires hanging around everywhere with a bulky, gothic jump pack would fit the 40th millenia nicely. With twin-linked plasma and flamer attacks on the charge with the option to take out MEQs with the power weapon and tanks with the servo arm the Techmarine would be a well-rounded offensive powerhouse.

The raptor jump packs might work well for that conversion instead of the regular SM packs. They are more condensed and rounded.
