Default how does a land speeder land?

+++ I have just realized that I have enough parts to make a land speeder. So I might make a diorama with a parked land speeder but how does it work? please enlighten me.+++

A few possibilities:

The first is that the ground-proximity sensor can retract, allowing for a more "flat" underbelly.

They may have landing gear (despite what the model shows), or alternatively they require a "cradle" to land upon.

My vote would be for a cradle, but that is really inconvinient in the field. It looks sweet, though, so for a diorama, I'd try that.

Why is it called a 'land speeder' if it never touches the ground? I think it should be renamed to 'elevated off of the land speeder'.

Also, the diorama is a cool idea. A cradle sounds pretty mean though, who'd park their land speeder where babies sleep? Thats just cruel to children. :P

However, Im thinking either one would look cool. The cradle would make a more obvious landing though. Or you could make a crashed LS.

Actually it's named after Arhkan Land, the same guy who found the STC on the Land Raider.

Anyway, I think the landing cradle idea is the best one. It's probably something portable that can either be folded up and stuffed inside, or towed behind a rhino

And the Land Crawler, but not as many people know about it...

I'd say a cradle and/or retracting the rear fins for a flat belly.

Combination of retracting the probe and landing gear if you believe some fluff. However having three of the things and haivng looked them over I have tos ay I have no clue where the landing gear is supposedly on the thing. I've always been partial to the idea that the field maintains a low level even at rest. So that while it sits lower to the ground, the speeder still basicly hovers.

Pretty much.

A lot of fluff actually suggests that Imperium ships and vehicles actually have engines and power sources that have higher outputs than they really need. Most of this goes sometimes to just overcoming inefficient designs. you can't say the landspeeder (or most Imperial aircraft) are the most aerodynamic of craft. With that extra power it doesn't seem a stretch to keep it hovering at all times.

But if it hovered all the time it would be rather noisy would it not?
Tactically speaking that would be a bad thing if you are trying to keep a low profile. Also considering the landspeeder is more so a scout unit. Making lots of noise at idle would probably be bad. Being as if you could spot your enemy the enemy could probably hear you.
Also unless it had the computer to monitor it. It would drift around wouldn't it? Although I am sure it would have the technology to keep it level and in one spot when not maned.
