Default Furious Charge

Okay, I have a question about the Furious Charge skill.

In the 4th Ed SM Codex, it says that I can take Furious Charge for my Venerable Dreadnought. Thing is, I've got the 3rd Ed rulebook (I know, the 4th is essential, and I'm getting it as soon as I can but at the moment I am completely out of disposable income) and there's no mention of Furious Charge that I can find.

If this is a breach of the nebulous copyright policy, then just say so and I won't ask, but could someone give me the rundown on that skill, or point me to a place that has it?

Furious charge was something invented after the 3rd edition book came out. It started in the Blood Angel book before eventually being labelled a "veteran skill" in the 2nd chaos codex.

Those are two places you could probably find it, but you'll almost certainly be wanting to get the more recent book. If the price tag is putting you off, you might wanna try to get the Battle for Macragge rulebook either off of ebay or BWbits. It's got all the normal rules, only leaving out stuff like combat patrols, kill teams and the more fancy scenerios

No, I seriously have no money for any purchases at all. I'm planning on getting the 4th Ed rulebook in it's entirety as soon as I can, but until then, I'm stuck with 3rd Ed.

Fair enough, fair enough. I guess I'll have to do without it for now, whatever it is. No worries.

Okay, I did a little hunting and figured out what it is. Thing is, is it really worth it to take it on a Dreadnought with a close combat weapon? It's already a beast in Assault; does the initiative modifier really help that much?

you strike first. stick *that* to the wraithlord... i5 is always a good thing.

you also get str9. now you can penetrate land raiders with your fist. or other vehicles, a *lot* easier.

But the Dreadnought already has a STR of 10 when using a CCW... can't go any higher than that. And I'm fighting another SM army.

Then you'll strike before other dreads or stuff with marine level initiative that can somehow harm you (necron lord?). Plus it can help in a multiple combat. If you kill off a few enemies with a charging dread before they can strike it can reduce casualties on another squad

That being said I'd still take tank hunter on a venny dread if I had to pick a skill for him

Cool, thanks; I'll give it a shot and see if it pays off or not.
