Default Pre-heresy

Ok I am thinking of in the future starting a pre-heresy army. I want to do the luna wolves and I have a few Questions.

1. Technological developments what currently used stuff should I not use to preserve the time peroid

2. color scheme which one of these is correct because they are both from approved things. I think the first one is from the chapters dictionary that i found at the bookstore once.

Just so you know... The Lunar Wolves are now the Black Legion, not the Space Wolves...

As for your question... are you asking for traits for for stuff you just shoudl stay away from? I don't have my codex handy so I'll tell you about the things you should stay away from... No Landspeeders, as far as I know they are recent technology... and the Space Wolves weren't keen on them in the first place...

i know the luna wolves are now black leigon. That's why i specified pre heresy. i know most people wouldn't let me use them but. it sounds like such a cool idea. By pre heresy I mean when they were still active and with the imperium.

Right, here's some guidelines, section by section.

HQ:

Librarians may be banned, depending on just how "Pre" your Pre-Heresy army is. For most of the Crusade, Librarians were forbidden.

Chaplains were not used, save in the Word Bearers. Don't bring them.

You may not use Lightning Claws, Thunder Hammers or Storm Shields, nor may you use Storm Bolters, unless your HQ is in Terminator Armour (they weren't fully developed yet...). Plasma weaponry is encouraged.

Elites:

Do not take Assault Terminators, they didn't exist. Terminators (or, more precisely, Justarian) should be rare, like 0-1... and again, keep their options minimal. The Assault Cannon could, at a push, represent an early Reaper Autocannon, but avoid it if you can. Don't use the Cyclone, it didn't exist.

Dreadnoughts should be okay... again, assume the Assault Cannon is a Reaper Autocannon. Venerable Dreadnoughts probably shouldn't be taken either.

Troops:

Bring Plasma. Lots of Plasma.

Scouts... I'm not sure on. I don't think they fit, but I can't find much either way...

Transports:

No Razorbacks. At all. Ever.

Fast Attack:

No Landspeeder variants; just your bog-standard (they did exist during the Heresy... I've got Adeptus Titanicus suppliments to prove it).

Assault Squads should be 0-1 ideally, as they were rare Pre-Heresy (regretting the idea yet?)

Heavy Support:

PREDATORS CANNOT HAVE LASCANNONS!

If you take Predators, they must have an Autocannon and Heavy Bolter sponsons. No variation at all is allowed.

Whirlwinds, Vindicators and Land Raider Crusaders are likewise forbidden.


That about covers it.

Actually, Lightning Claws are ok on your HQ- Abbadon had one share... but no Assault Terminators and only put them in HQs wearing Terminator armor (and only 1 HQ should ever be wearing said armor). Power weapons on the other hand should be everywhere in the form of Short Swords. No Chaplains as only a very few existed in a few select legions. Lots of bolters.

Actually Abaddon's is part of a artifact set that use to belong to horus. They were something like the gloves worn by Magnus Calgar. While they act like lightning claws they were one of those weapons only the primarchs had at the time.

Odd, I can't remember reading anything like that- Abbadon used Terminator armor and lightning claws in Galaxy in Flames, the last of the Horus Heresy Trilogy

Well, fluff is always changing so it's possible.

Older fluff had that at the time of the Heresy the only thing with Lightning claws, Thunder hammers and even Powerfists where Dreadnaughts. it was only later on that the power requirments and technology got it to the point wher eit was man protable.
