Default WIP Chapter: Destroyer Angels

ORIGINS

The Destroyer Angels were formed during the 13th Dark Founding. The Destroyer Angels have no home system or worlds, they, like the Black Templar are always mobile and moving.

Though on every world The Destroyer Angels attack, they built a fortress that Techmarines, and a small army of Servitors are stationed to help rebuild the planets goverment and keep the peace. The fortress also acts as a home when The Destroyer Angels come to recruit new Marines.

COMBAT DOCTRINE

The Destroyer Angels chapter ignores the Codex completely, but often referring to it as a ‘resource’ and nothing more. The Chapter prefers two different tactics of attack.

The First being called ‘The Sure Destroyer’, the tactic involves careful planning, then a slow but fatal line of fire to destroy the enemy.

The second called ‘The Merciless Angel’ is used to bring a quick victory to the Chapter. A force is spilt in half, and then the first half is sent down to mercilessly force an enemy into a corner, then teleports, or deep strikes the second force behind the enemy to create a Hammer and Anvil effect.

At all possible the chapter will avoid close combat since they believe that the winner is the one with the biggest guns.

The Destroyer Angels will never resort to foolish waste such as last stands, or honor battles, such they believe that in war, there is no honor, just the victor.

ORGANIZATION

The Destroyer Angels have no system of ‘companies’ but instead create Destroyer Fleets. Destroyer fleets are formed when the Council of Mortis choice an area to target, Destroyer fleets are almost never the same, since the Council of Mortis will select squads and heavy armour to suit the purposes of the mission.

After the Destroyer Fleet has been created, and units are picked, the Council will select a Space Marine from that fleet to become the Chosen of Death. That Marine becomes the leader of the Fleet and will complete the mission the best way possible. But after the mission is finished the Destroyer Fleet is retried to form a new Destroyer Fleet, but usually not with the Same Marine, or even Chosen’s of Death.

The Council of Mortis is a group of the most legendary Space Marines of the chapter, who deicide the action of the chapter. The Group is formed of three different sections,
The first is the Angels of Sight, which are the chapter best psykers, which see into the future and use their knowage to guide the decisions, the second is the Angels of Faith, which are the group of the most fiery and best Chaplains the Chapter has, they advise decisions with the Holy Book of Stars and Death by the first Chapter Master, Finrear Shadowscythe, and if they follow the ideals of the Emperor to the letter. The Last group is the Angels of Fire, which is formed the most wise and tactically minded Space Marines in the chapter. The Angels of Fire are the people who pass an idea; the other two are the advisers to the Angels of Fire.

BELIEFS

The Destroyer Angels are true followers of the Path of Death, The Destroyer Angels believe that the only true force in the universe is Death, death rules and dictates all. The Destroyer Angels worship the Emperor as a God such he is the only true being that has escaped Death, and who is Immortal.

The Path of Death belief was created by First Reaper Lord Finrear Shadowscythe, and since on The Destroyer Angels has kept it as a chapter religion.

GENE-SEED

The Destroyer Angels keep their gene-seed secret from the rest of the Imperium, no one knows what it is, and even all data from the Tech Priests about the gene-seed creation was lost...

BATTLE-CRY

The Chapter does not have one single battle-cry, but each Destroyer Fleet will select its own.

HERALDRY AND MARKINGS

The Chapters universally colors are: Black general armour, with blue shoulder pads. All Imperial Symbols are highlighted in a darker white.

For each Destroyer Fleet has its own special badges, so all Marines that serve in a Destroyer Fleet will be allowed to paint the Fleet badge onto their armour, mainly the shoulder pads and helmets.

The Chapter badge is a hourglasses symbolzing that death is always in the universe and you can not escape it.

MAJOR ENGAGEMENTS

Location: Mortis Ultima VII
Fleet: 20th Destroyer Fleet

The battle for Mortis Ultima VII was one of the largest battles the Destroyer Angels ever fought on open ground. The reason why the Destroyer Angels attacked the planet is a mystery since they keep it under wraps. But some insiders keeping an eye on the Chapter hints that the planet was fully controlled by Astral Claws, mainly renegade Ultramarines and Imperial Fists, with some aid from the Alpha Legion, and that they were in possession of artifacts of their Holy Primarch. But also the insider informs his employers that the Destroyer Angels could not stand the presence of the foul traitors and pledge to wipe them off the face of the planet.

The Planet itself was heavily guarded with all matter of defenses that would bring trouble to most other chapters, but the Destroyer Angels were too determined to do what they did best, destroy, to give on the fight. The Council of Mortis gathered 800 Space Marines for the Assault, to form the 20th Destroyer Fleet nicknamed ?The Late Destroyer?, but the meaning of the name is hidden from the insider.

And at the ends of the battle 400 Space marines were lost, but they killed 1500 Traitor Marines with their daemonic beings. The Lost was heavy, but the victory was well worth it...

Location: PPR5-2024
Fleet: 444th Destroyer Fleet

When the Destroyer Angels gain Intel that confirmed their suppositions that a off the grid Imperial world was now a Iron Warriors Fortress world, so the Council of Mortis formed the 444th Destroyer Fleet, which was really a group of 20 Space Marine sent to take a heavly-modifed melta torpedo to be detonated within the Iron Warriors stronghold.

In the end the team was successful expect that only 5 Space Marines returned, it was a grave loss for the Chapter that 15 for the Chapter finest fell in battle, but they did their chapter proud, Later a 445th Destroyer Fleet was sent to finish off the world and restore it to Imperial Control.

NOTE: The reasons why there are few, if any major engagments is because the Destroyer Angels work in shadow and mystery so most of their battles with the enmies of the Emperor are hidden from eyes.

NEXT.... Heros of the Chapter...

You make it sound like there are a million marines in your chapter... other than that it sounds like BT without that rule where they move if you shoot them...

That's some good stuff, I like it. They're different from all the other chapters without being ridiculously so.
