Default FW Mk. IV Dreadnought question(s)

I am thinking of getting the Forge World MK IV Venerable Dreadnought. He costs 22 pounds which is cheaper than the standard plastic Dreadnought from GW which costs 25 pounds. The FW Dread comes without the weapon arms. But I already have a Lascannon and a Missile launcher arm from a plastic GW Dread (Mk. V) that I want to put on the Venerable Dreadnought. Now do they fit on the FW dread? The Reason why I ask this is because I also see that FW sells special Mk. IV arms. What is the difference between the Mk. IV and the Mk. V arms?

I am also thinking about getting the Dreadnought Assault drill for one of my Plastic GW Dreadnought. The Assault drill also has two versions, Mk. IV and the 'normal' Dreadnought assault drill. I presume I should get the 'normal' Dreadnought assault drill for my plastic GW Dreadnought? I will use this assault drill as a standard Dreadnought close combat weapon.

And I am also thinking about getting the Mk. IV Dreadnought close combat arm (left arm) (with the claws).
I want to use these claws on an other Plastic GW Dreadnought. But again it says Mk. IV, so would it fit?

You can view all these arms and the Dreadnought here. Just scroll down the page.

I think they will fit, but I can't see anything that says they do. I just want to be sure I get the right things.

Thanks for your help.

AFAIK, they should all be compatible, I think the differences are mainly cosmetic, so that a Mk4 arm is different to a normal one etc.

I warn you know, though, I havn't actually built/seen/bought one, so I may be talking crap....

Right, here's the difference:

The resin Dreadnoughts sold by Forgeworld are Mk IV Dreadnoughts. They don't come with arms, so you have to buy those seperate. Mk IV arms are meant for Mk IV Dreadnoughts.

The GW Dreadnought is the "Mk V" Dreadnought. Any weapon specified for a normal Dreadnought (or a Mk V) can be used by that model. I cannot be sure if Mk IV weapons will fit.

I've bought a MkIV in the past, and a normal dreadnought, though have not mix-maxed the parts and am at uni now. From what i remember i think they would fit together.
And the claw looks nasty!

I'm sure the plastic dreadnought's arm bitz are pretty similar in size to the FW ones. And even if the plastic arms dont fit perfectly, it shouldn't be too hard to make them fit *insert orky grin here*

Thanks for your replies,

I did notice a difference in the arms of an Mk. IV dreadnought; They have the targeter and the Storm Bolter put underneath the main body. See the picture:

So I think that is the main difference. I am sure I am able to model the arms to make them fit on each other.
But I still would like to hear from someone who has had experience with these Dreadnoughts. I want to have confirmation on it.

It's fine, bud. Vorn is a FW Dreadnought, remember? He's got plastic boxed set arms. It works fine the other way too, I've got an assortment of arms for my Dreadnoughts and they're all compatible with no modifications necessary...with the exception of the assault drill; I had to drill that out to make it fit (the hole wasn't deep enough).

Even if you do get the odd loose one, you can fix that by painting the inside of the slot, or by putting a little blu-tac in there.

Aah, confirmation! That's what I was looking for.

But Vorn is the BT Dreadnought, but I am sure it would also be for the Mk. IV Venerable Dreadnought.

There are two variants of the Assault drill, one for the Mk. IV and one for the Mk. V so I'll take the Mk. V for my Plastic GW Dreads.

Cool. Hey, are you going to show us when you're done?

Sure, but I haven't placed an order yet. I takes about 8 days for the package to reach my home (that's how long it took the last time I placed an order at FW). And then I have to put the things together and paint it all.

So, when I am looking at how long it will take me to get the Venerable Dread done, I estimate somewhere around the end of December...

I got some other things (projects) that also need my attention and then I have school, work and a holiday planned in that time. So, I hope you can wait that long...

I also still have to complete my first Shadow Spectres standard plastic Dread. :funny:
