This list doesn't qualify as a real army yet.

You need one HQ and two Troops choices. Also this list is not even 500 points.

I suggest you get more troops before you start thinking about other units you want to add.

Then we can give comments on how to improve your list.

(Proto-type Fluff)

Soon after the Tyrannic Wars, A group of Ultramarines Tyranid Veterans, that all happened to be from a very strange deathworld, decided to make their own little chapter. This Chapter was Named the Woodland Knights. Their Marines would be pure blood from their homeworld of Myriadia. Myriadia was an evergreen deathworld made up of mostly land and a very intracate system of lakes, rivers, and freshwater seas. The people living on this world became a Nomadic race, living in 7 peacefull clans. These Nomads live among the 7 constantly travelling Great Deer herds, in a symbiotic relationship. The humans protect the herd from the massive Blood Wolves and Death Bears, and the Herd provides food for the Myriadians.

The Nomads believe that the Great Deer were gifts from the Emperor, and believe them holy. These Nomads make perfect Marines, because not only are there the ever present danger of the wolves and bears, but they also have certain extremely poisonous reptiles and amphibions.

Seven Clans: Carolius, Geonius, Alambii, Missis, Texyam, Tennios, and Lousanaa. (If you get where I got the names, PM me!)

Dude, my S.O.B. are The Order of The Evergreen Tree (DA green and Snakebite Leather).

We should work some fluff tying the two armies together.

OMG!! WK are Primary: Vermin Brown, Secondary, DA Green! the two are pretty close!

Woodland Knights? They sould a bit... well... elf to me! They don't sound hard, and marines should sound hard! Imperial Fists sound hard, Blood Angels sound hard... keep the theme and look for an alternative name with a similar meaning...

Glade Knights
Glade Warriors
Myradian Rangers
Myradian Knights

I'd dispence with with the Ultramaines Veterans part and just say that the chapter has fought at the vanguard of the Nid menace, making a name for themselves. If you want to keep the Ultramarines connection, then use the 'counts as' rule and dispence with the traits so that you can use the Tyranic War Vets.

mwuhaha! They may sound weak, but they slap both of my friend's 'nids around regularly! (none of use have complete armies though! :P )

Anyway, I am still deciding if I should go for the 'counts as' approach. I would Love to use Tyrannic Vets, but I just love doing custom too much!

Perhaps you could go for the best of both worlds? Design your chapter with unique rules and units of its own (such as the Tyrannic war veterans), just make sure your usual opponent(s) is on board with you proposed units. If ever you play against someone who stubbornly refuses to let you use your personalised chapter then have some pre-planned backup lists ready thet either use the traits system or the so-called 'counts as' rule.

Well, perhaps your models are no good, but at least you're making an effort. Most people are too lazy to do that and make excuses like "I don't have time" or "I don't paint because I'm no good at it". I wouldn't mind quite so much if they'd just admit that painting their army is just not as big a priority as all the other things they want to do or should do with their time. The number of times I've listened to people going on about how they've got exams on, or kids to take care of, a wife to attend to...but are they seriously trying to say they literally don't have even half an hour to themselves once a week? If you want to spend what little free time you have on something else then fine, say that. But I hate it when people tell me they "don't have time", because it's just not true (with the exception perhaps of parents with newborn kids). So kudos to you, pal, I admire your dedication...and you will get better.
