Default Land Speeder Tempest

Hey guys, I love space marine land speeders so much, and I am always trying to learn more about them, on different variations of them and tactics, and I just recently saw a picture of a land speeder Tempest. To me, it seems to be the perfect variation of a land speeder to me. I can picture a squad of three of those... or maybe 2 and 1 with Multimelta...* It only has an assault cannon, no heavy bolter, making it cheaper I think...?* But I also noticed the enclosed cockpit, and remember reading somewhere that they have better armour.* I don't have any of the Imperial Armour books, but is it mentioned in those books...?

** Can any of you space marine vets out there inform me on this wonderful looking machine of the Adeptus Astartes...?* Thanks in advanced!**

For any rule specific stuff you will need to get the imperial armor book, but I will tell you it does have higher armor, and I agree it is one nice looking model!

You won't like the Tempest. The improved armour is almost insignificant and it has no weapons options; just the two it's got built in. They are pretty good weapons, but the vehicle's cost will slay you. Stick to normal Land Speeders...you get more bang for your buck.

I love the Tempest. As far as I'm concerned, it's a god. I've taken them in Ravenwing armies, and they are brilliant for this sort of army.

It's a fun speeder, but it's not the End All Be All.

You can't take them in squadrons, so each one takes up one fast attack spot. They're more than TWICE the cost of a heavy bolter speeder, and while they do have improved weapons and armor, because of the difference of the weapons range's, you'll either be shooting one from long range, or both from inside bolter range...

However, I have one, and it's a lot of fun. It's different, and that makes it better.
