Default small 800 pointish army

Okay, this is the list i crunched out of ever available scrap of space marine stuff i have.
At work so no exact points, i think it came out to 822 or something.

HQ-
1 Terminator Chaplain - Reclusiarch
1 Terminator Seargent - power fist
1 Terminator - assault cannon/chainfist
1 Terminator - cyclone
2 Terminators - standard

Troops-
Tactical squad
1 Seargent - Plasma pistol/chainsword
1 Marine - Flamer
4 Marines - standard

Troops-
Tactical squad
1 Seargent - bolt pistol/powersword
1 Marine - missile launcher
4 Marines - standard

Fast Attack-
Assault squad
1 Seargent
1 Marine - flamer
3 Marines - standard

Fast Attack-
Assault squad
1 Seargent
1 Marine - flamer
3 Marines - standard

Is this list worth playing with?
Could it hold its own?
As mentioned these are all the Space Marines I have for now.

Would this be comparable to other races 800 pt lists?

any input is welcomed.

This list needs some work.

Some pointers:

Always take even numbered squad sizes, this means 6, 8 or 10 men squads.
Your Terminators and the assault squads are not. This is for survivability and VP's.

Terminators are way too expensive in 800 points. Better served for games above 1500 points.

Two small assault squads will hardly bring out any damage. Before they will be in CC, they will have most likely suffered some casualties. Better make one squad.

Your second Tac squad is armed with a heavy weapon and a Sarge armed for CC. Why?
Also a Plasma pistol is a bit expensive.

Shame you don't have any more models. I would suggest getting more Tactical marines to beef your army up to 1000 points. 800 points isin't played a lot. 750 points is played more.

Better make a new list at home where you have the Codex nearby.

(I suggest reading the Space Marines unit selection guide in my signature.)

Your army is 33 points the limit. Stam makes some great recommendations but if you want to keep the list looking much as it is but trim the excess points, here are my recommendations:
Saving points

HQ 1
 • Give the sergeant back his power sword, the rest of the squad can handle tanks and the Chaplain and sergeant combined might be able to thin out some of the enemy infantry before they get a chance to hit back...then the rest of the termies can mop up the survivors. You're paying a lot for the Sergeant to have a powerfist and those points could be spent elsewhere. Also get rid of the cyclone missile launcher it's a waste of points at that price.
+40 pts

Troops 1
 • Never waste a veteran sergeant in a small squad. In a large squad, you can make use of the sergeant's lethal weapons and soak up the wounds long enough to put them to good use. But in a small squad like this, they'll probably all be killed before those extra points can earn themselves back.
+30 pts

Troops 2
 • Drop a marine from this squad.
+15 pts

[b]
Total points saved: 85
Spending points

HQ 1
 • Give the Chaplain a storm bolter, they're cheap as chips and you might as well do something to make use of his ballistic skill. Add another assault cannon to the squad.
-20 pts

Troops 2
 • Give these boys a plasma gun. If they're filling a fire support role then a plasma gun is just a souped up bolt gun and is capable of destroying light vehicles. The threat of over-heating is not such a huge worry with power armour.
-10 pts

Fast attack 1 + 2
 • Give these fellas melta bombs, it'll make them a threat for enemy armour as well as troops.
-20 pts

Total points spent: 50
Surplus points: +2

Thanks for the input.

As stated before, this is ALL the SM stuff I have.
Heck the Assault Squad isn't even legal.
I'm proxying some ten year Chaos Marines I had
lying in the bottom of my bitz box.
I forget which chapter, the ones where the backpacks
are all mutated into "T" shapes.

So, if I understand right, I should Swap Seargents
and merge the Assault Squads into one.
I was thinking along those lines myself, nice to know my insticts.

I play Tau normally.
I'm just trying to put something together for my roomate to use
while he's getting his Necrons put together, so we don't have to do
Tau on Tau all the time at the house while he is learning.

My first Purchase, when I have the $$, will be legal Assault marines.
After that, I'm thinking about some Devastators, or Maybe a Techmarine
in Full Servo with Gunnies and a Razorback.

Thank again for the advice.

If I were you I should wait to buy a legal Assault squad. I think your friend already agreed that you could use the Chaos Marines as Assault marines. So I would instead buy some more Tactical marines to beef your army up to 1000 points. You want to play a game as soon as possible right? After that I would go for the Devastors.
