Default Fists Question

Hello! Although I play Chaos, I have been looking through a lot of the Marine chapters, just because they're cool. Now here's my question. What are the Fists' (Crimson Fists/Imperial Fists) special rules? I know Ultramarines are holy and have Nid-killing special characters, Blood Angels have the Black Rage, Space Wolves have True Grit and all that jazz, but I have not seen anything for the Fists. Now I know that I can't get the exact special rules because it's not allowed, but I just want a basic idea. Also, I have looked through the forum, which has a ton of history, and says they're basically a stand-and-shoot army, but I would appreciate a little more. Thanks in advance!

their rules are in the Codex, and we're not allowed to tell you exactly.

but, in summary: both can be used with no special rules/ traits.

using traits:
IFs can get an advantage at killing tanks, but might have to play an extra turn they don't want to.

CFs can get an advantage at fighting Orks in close combat (which is never a good idea really), but are limited in special units.

also, IFs get a pretty cool special character who's really good if you want to use lots of teleporting terminators

Basically they have laid-out traits in the Trait section of the codex. that's it. besides the rules for Lysyander (sp?).

The Imperial Fists are not really a 'stand and shoot' chapter, they are notoriously stubborn and fight on when they might be better off withdrawing, but a better description might be 'orbital assault specialists'. Besides their set chapter traits as mentioned by Captainwhizz and SpacePuppy, they are classed as 'seige masters' and have certain special rules to reflect it. These rules can be found in Index Astartes vol. 2. The Imperial Fists hail from Terra originally but don't have any set homeworld as such; instead, they've got a massive space-bourne fortress-monastary called the 'Phalanx'. They're more mobile than other chapters (in the galactic sense) and the Phalanx lends itself to large scale orbital assaults more readily than the battle barges of other chapters. Massive simultaneous Terminator teleportation assaults are the cornerstone of an Imperial Fist siege and you can find the rules for the special character mentioned by Captainwhizz and SpacePuppy to facilitate this in the codex.

Also, Imperial Fists look damn cool and more people need to start collecting them. Yellow is notoriously unforgiving and hard to paint though...perhaps that's why they don't?

Unfortunately, the Index Astartes rules no longer apply, as they were 3rd Ed.

they also screw up the defence of terra on a 4+. the traits aren't very good, and don't do the chapter justice.

Thank you all. I think that the Imperial Fists and the Raven Guard are the coolest chapters, But I had no idea what the Fists did.And yes, the yellow does look great when painted well. By the way, are the Crimson Fists a successor chapter to the Imperial Fists?
