Default jump packs and command squads

can command squads be equiped with jump packs?

say, for example, I want to take a Master of Sanctity and equipe him with a jump ack from the armoury. I then give him a 9 SM Reclusiam Command squad... for the chaplain's jup pack to be of any use, the squad would need to be equipped with them as well. So can I do this or not?

Not with Vanilla marines. You have got to have at least 5 men in a command squad (not including the IC) and even if you take all three specialists and give the squad terminator honours, you'll still have one marine left who can't take equipment from the armoury. I gather Raven Guard can take a command squad equipped entirely with jump packs however, and also Blood Angels honour guards and death company. Alternatively you could just attach him to a normal assault squad...or do you particularly want the specialists?

I don't really want the specialists so I might try attaching him to an assault squad...

However, if I want to have a drop pod army, attaching him to another squad could become tricky... and if he has to be all alone (poor, poor chaplain :P ) 30pts worth of drop pod might be a bit expensive...

If there isn't a way around this, I might have to drope the jumppack (I could aso drop the chaplain, but I really want him: cool models and cool converting potential)

you can have all the marines in the squad terminator honours if you have a sergeant with them

Yes, but having terminator honors alone doesn't give you the ability to select out of the armory. Most people that are given termie honors are given the ability to select out of the armory if they have them, but not everyone.

Better powergaming test? Ok:

If you answered yes to question 1, you are in fact a power gamer, and your list is probably either beardy or you can abuse the rules to make it such.

Wow. I can't believe we're having this debate again...it's like we've gone back in time.

The details for the Sergeant within the unit entry for the Space Marine Command Squad read as follows: "The Sergeant can be given Terminator honours at +15 points. If so, he may select equipment from the Space Marine armoury. In addition if the Sergeant has Terminator Honours, then all other Space Marines in the squad may be given Terminator Honours at +10 points per model."

We understand what you're saying and you're quite right in that everyone in the squad can take Terminator Honours, no one's disputing that. But what Tech-Commander Archive is trying to explain to you is that, while eveyone in the squad may well have Terminator Honours it only entitles the Sergeant and Specialists to take equipment from the armoury.

The is made clear by the preceeding statement: "All Specialists with Terminator Honours may select additional equipment from the armoury."

It is a common misconception that having Terminator Honours automatically grants access to the Space Marine armoury, but those are two seperate advantages. In the exceptional cases, such as veteran Sergeants, the codex stipulates that the said character also gains access to the armoury if he is given Termintor Honours.

Actually the only army that can have a "command squad" with jump packs is the Blood Angels. Even the mighty raven guard who should have the option are sadly lacking in that area.

The truly sad part is that if you do play Blood Angels you are better off taking a chaplain w/ death company. this however removes your ability to buy him a command squad so....

you would only be able to get a command squad to accompany your second HQ. But thats cool, the death company with free jump packs more than makes up for the loss of the command squad.

Captain Shrike of the Raven Guard can take a squad of monsterously overpriced jump-packing fiends numbering 4-9 men. Is that of any use to you?

not really, but thanks anyway.

I'v decided to drop the jumppack idea for now... just to simplify things
