Default Raven Guard: Basic list

Well, I've given some thought [a couple seconds], and I decided, after I'm done with my table, which is my first summer project, and after a box of Cadians and the odd blister, I am going to start a small, 600-700 point army of Raven Guard. My good friend has decided to do teh same with Blood Angels, and I can already envsion us deepstriking into my city table and having multiple jumppackers against jumpackers fights. All in all, it will be confusing and fats... just the way I like it

I have decided on a Cammander based on the Shrike model... he's one of my favorites, and my Blood angles-to-be friend has thought about using the same for a commander.

I was thinking on a commander w/ dual LC, Iron Halo, jumppack, purity seals, frag, and melta-bombs.

Also, 2 5 man assault squads would look nice, along with a Tactical squad with Plasma/HB and a Razorback w/ Dual HB, and a Scout squad w/ snipers.

Perhaps a Landspeeder or two.

Thoughts? Any other suggestions? Lists?

Thanks!
Stankov

Definetly take a land speeder. I just got a tornado. If you are going to be fighting a blood angel army, they are nasty. you can pump seven shots out of them, four are rending, so a blood angels aussault squad could be devastated real fast. Then they can easily zoom back behind any tactical squads. You might be able to do this once more, even against blood angels with thier blood wrath, or you could just stay behind the tactical squad until the storm of assault marines breaks while you take pot shots at them.

Good tactics!

This is what I have thought up.

HQ:
Commander
Command squad
Jet packs
Apothecary
Elites:
-
Troops:
Tactical Squad
HB
Plasma
Scout Squad
Snipers
Razorback
TLed HB
Fast Attack
Assault squad
Landspeeder Tornado
Attack Bike
Multimelta

Heavy Support
-

So, the Command squad will also double as a second assault squad in smaller games where I can't take the bike or speeder.

I have the old WD with the rules, so let me check that tonight, and I'll make some corrections.

Thanks!

your list looks ok except for a few things.

first your commander is better off without the command squad for one reason: you must have a minimum of 5 in the command squad and only 4 of them have access to the armory, so you'll be walking with the command squad until the 5th marine is killed.

secondly, in a ravenwing army (I'm assuming your using the trait system by the way) razorbacks count as a fast attack choice. but thats ok, it can be fixed by...

thirdly, why not take your assault squad as an elite so that you have an extra fast slot open. you will of course have to give them furious assault (I think thats the only one that you have to give them, not looking at the codex right now), but thats actually a really good thing.

Just remember that against blood angels you want to be the one assaulting, don't let him near you until you are ready. otherwise have fun and enjoy.

oh yeah, if your not using the trait system then ignore the second and third item.

Hmmm... I see.

I guess that sounds good. I'll put one assault squad into Elites, and bump the Rzrbck into Fast Attack.

Thanks!

PS: The commander will simply join the Elite choice Assault squad. Thanks again!

Wrong. If you give the sergeant in the command squad terminator honours, you can give everyone else terminator honours for +10 points.

Checkt he command squad entry if you don't believe me.

No, he's right; only the Sergeant and specialists with Terminator Honours may choose equipment from the Space Marine armoury. Since you can only choose one of each kind of specialist (three in total), that still leaves one Marine in a five-man squad without access to the armoury, Terminator Honours or otherwise.

Sorry, bud. :P

Well, none of that matters, because my friend is alright with me using the 3rd Edition 'dex, which I do, and he'll let me use a 4 man command squad with jumpacks because he's cool like that.

Anyways...

...Anything dealing with the list in general? Should I change the Rzr.Bck. Weapons Config. at all, or leave it TLed HB?

Thanks!
