Critisize my 1250 Black Templar army

Default Critisize my 1250 Black Templar army

This is what I'm planning so far, but I want as much criticism as possible, I'm new so help me out.

HQ
1. Emperorís Champion-125
-Suffer not the Unclean

2. Marshall-130
-Bolt Pistol and CC weapon
-Artificer armor


Elite
1. Venerable Dreadnought-125


Troops
1. Initiates x10 & Neophytes x5-235
-Power Fist
-Melta Gun

2. Initiates x10 & Neophytes x5-235
-Power Fist
-Melta Gun

Fast Attack
1. Assault Squad x9-223
- Power Fist
-2 Plasma Pistols

2. 2 Land Speeder Tornadoes-140
-Assault Cannon
-Heavy Bolter

1 Land Speeder-65
-Multi Melta

(All of the Land Speeders are in 1 squad)

Thats my list. I would like people to list my flaws and help me fix them.

All of this is 1250 exact

After looking at it, would it be better to drop the Land Speeders for Sword Brethren?

++Hi! and welcome to the forums. I don't have codex black Templar's but i have codex SM and i have a rough idea of BT stuff. Anyway criticism, first congratulations! you are the first BT player i've seen who doesn't have a land raider ;D. Ok seriously, now both BT squads are fine except that i don't think the meltagun maybe necessary as you've gotta powerfist, maybe a flamer (Vs orks, nids, guard..?) or maybe a plasmagun (Vs. marines & MEQ's) But there's one thing i must criticise seriously:

Marshall-130
-Bolt Pistol and CC weapon
-Artificer armor


This guy is a serious waste of points! first of all a bolt pistol is fine, but a C.C.W! are you insane! he needs a power weapon at least! And scrap the artificer armour it's a waste of points i mean it's not gonna work against AP2 and AP1 weapons. if you want him to last give him a iron halo (invulnerable saves are brill!) or bionics. If i were you i would switch him for a chaplain, a chaplain is a monster in assult, 4+ invulnerable, litanies of hate re-rolls and all the BT cheese! this guy will prove effective and he would win his points back and more easily!++

first I would suggest splitting the 3 landspeeders into 2 units, otherwise you are wasting the multimelta since its only really effective if you are within half range.

secondly if you do drop land speeders, just drop the multi melta and split the other two into 2 units. that won't give you enough points for the sword brethren, but it will give you some to work with.

third the ant team is right in that a close combat weapon is kind of a waste on your commander. give him at least a power weapon.

I'm also guessing that the venerable dread has some ability you forgot to post, because a ven dread with no upgrades comes to 115, not 125.

other than that your list looks pretty good.

I suggest:
Reclusiarch,
pistol, terminator honor, frags = 112 points. 5 attacks (6 on the charge) He rocks!!
You may add cenobites to him to get a better Righteous Zeal roll (if you think to footslog, you'll need it.)

No, BT venerable Dreads are 125, he is right.

According to your opponent, I'll change the vow: if you fight marines, hitting last is a sure way to die. (If you fight someone that is already much slower than you, or much faster than you, then it is a very good choice.)

I'll go for an even number of assault marines, so 8 and I'll use the points to give frags to the 2 troop squads.

I will still say take out the land speeders, they are a waste of points, and replace them with a dreadnought or sword brethern squad. Also, for my 1250pt, I have 3 hqs, may sound crazy, but it works pretty cool. Also, you can take rhinos liek i did, drop a few neoopytes. Make a squad of 8 initiates and 2 neopytes, and take rhino. Also, you might want to take a holy hand grenade of Antioch. It proved to be very useful in tight positions.

ok, first sorry I thought that the dread would only be 115, my bad.

however secondly do NOT pull out the land speeders. right now they and the dread are your only tank popping models, and since black templar can't have devastator squads your better off with them.

I don't see when you will ever use the multi-meltas in your troops if you want to be moving. Makes them a round number like 14 or 16. That's what you could do with your extra points.

Why do people keep recommending Sword Brethren!? I just don't see them being worth it over a plain crusader squad or an assault squad. The only benefit you can possibly get for them is to use them for infiltrating or furious assault.
