Decided to start up a SM list, to use when I get frustrated or anything with the shooting-only fighting of the Tau.
Chapter Traits
Advantages: Cleanse and Purify, No Mercy, No Respite
Disadvantages: Aspire to Glory, Death Before Dishonour
I was going to use GW's interactive painter... but it didn't show black very well (can't see the shadows created from the plates of armour and such)
Dark grey with a slight blue-ish tinge for the power armor, black shoulder pads, white eyes.

Need a name still...
Working on where they came from, trying to figure out the "Gene-Seed" idea... Any help appreciated if you wanna give suggestions to where they may come from.

Other Stuff:
Emphasis on "heat" weapons in Units (Melta, Plasma, Flamer and, to a lesser extend, Laser (lascannon) technology).

Hopeful tactics:
-Landspeeders stay back (unless I get second turn), to see which unit(s) are going to attempt to flank. The Landspeeders will then advance towards them to take them out or, at least, thin the crowd.
-Predator focus' on taking out tanks and heavily armoured troops.
-Assault Squad rushes forward to get into assault a.s.a.p. or goes after a fast approaching vehicle with their meltabombs and then assaults.
-Scouts Infiltrate, about mid-board. From here they pick off as many of the troops as possible using the Sniper Rifles and Missile Launcher.
-Multi-melta/Plasma gun squad goes for any heavy infantry.
-Missile Launcher/Plasma gun squad goes for infantry off to whatever side a vehicle it (I'll just pick one), advancing while firing until they get withing range to take out the vehicle.
-2x Heavy Bolter Squad advances and makes a fire line, supported by the Missle Launcher/Plasme gun squad after they do their duty.
-Terminators Form part of the Fire-line, but slightly ahead of the Tac. Troops
-Librarian and Command Squad add support where needed with their assaulting power (4 Force Weapon S4 Attacks, 2 Power Weapon S4 Attacks, 8 Regular S4 Attacks)

Alot of "hopeful" stuff... but, seems alright to me... heh.

Edit: Changed "Uphold the Honour of the Emperor" to "Cleanse and Purify" for the purpose of the "Heat based weaponry" me and my army are so fond in... seems fluffy.

Well the affinity with heat based weapons screams Salamanders geneseed to me.

well...you could use the name Honour Guard...but I decided that I'm going to use that for my army...
so you can have the Shadow Guards...Shadow Dragons, Grip Reapers (highly recommended for assault armies) Shadow Angels ...well...thats some I came up with referring to your colour scheme...always a good idea to link the name of your chapter to the colour scheme...

Shadow Dragons I like... I think I'll use that, thanks Reflects both the colour and the flame-potential.

Can anyone clarify something... where it says:
"Models with access to the armoury may select up to two weapons of which only one can be two-handed."
So a model could have, say, a Power Weapon and Storm Bolter or something of the like?

Basically yeah. You can have either 2 one handed weapons (ie, 2 CCW, 1 CCW, 1 BP etc) or 1 one handed weapon, and 1 two handed weapon (ie, 1 Power weapon, 1 Sotrm bolter etc)

hope that helps! good army by the way! It does scream Salamanders, but I'm sure you could come up with some fluff that they were not genetically correct to be Salamanders, so they formed their own chapter or something along those lines! I like it! You really like the number 7 dont you? :P YOu have a pretty solid fireing line, and your tactics are sound. I find it almost better to respond to my enemies movements rather then make the first move. It allows you to get the "advantage" a little easier, any way, happy gaming!

cool...the shadow dragons will fit nicely for salamanders...salamanders are a type of lizard you know

As well as a mythological beast of fire... Can't remember if they could generate fire or just withstand temperatures that'd melt rocks though...

But yes, Salamander based seems to fit...

there are actual animals called salamanders, though i can't remember if they are reptiles or amphibians.
Salamanders geneseed would be a good choice.

you don't seem to have used cleanse and purify anywhere (the command squad can have 2 flamers anyway can't they?), maby lose it?.

Salamanders are amphibious. In my entire life, which is only 18 years :P, I have only seen two in the wild, both in very damp rainy weather. The thing is I know we have them here in Canada, but it seems they are quite rare...I guess it all depends on where you are.
