It struck me recently that for a major chapter, so proficient at siege warfare, the Imperial Fists have only one unique unit to reflect this. Lysander is excellant if you want to perform a massive Terminator assault, but what if you favour more conventional tactics?
I would like convert a Space Marine vehicle to serve as a siege vehicle of sorts. I had already considered a Super-Heavy tank and proposed to use a Chally 2 plasic kit, but concluded that I wanted something more commonplace that would fit better with the rest of the army (also, no matter what 40k gubbins I attached to it, I knew it'd still just look like a bright yellow chally at the end of it). My most favoured alternative is a flame tank of sorts (specifically, one armed with an Inferno cannon) to clear bunkers, pillboxes and trenches. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how I might go about this task? Any suggestions for special rules? Or even any alternative vehicle ideas?

I suggest that you use the Forge World dreadnought combat drills. Attach them to the tank as some sort of weapon used to cut open metal walls.

That's a fairly wierd idea...you mean just kinda bolt them onto the front of a conventional vehicle? They'd probably be better suited to their intended use; a siege dreadnaught looks cool. I like the idea of a big drill though, I hadn't thought of that...something to burrow through walls. I'm not really sure how to incorporate that into a game of 40k though (unless my opponant has forked out £650 on forgeword fortress walls). Might be able to use it to make a mess of infantry and smash up bunkers though. Where would I find the parts for something like that though...

Not like they are. You have to remove the drill part from the upper arm part, naturally. Still, I think combat drills would be something that one would find on a siege vehicle.

Imperial Fists are still a codex chapter. they can be a perfectly good siege army without any special tricks.

Their chapter traits are all very well, I'd just like a unique unit.

Ive taken in my space marine army a heavy bolter razorback with 6 marines 2 melta guns and sgt with power fist. with a second storm bolter you can pump out 7 shots per turn while your marines can attack vehicles.
If your wanting to make your own unit try useing the VDR rules KQD

Check out the Vindicator on page 27 of the new WD (June, #317). Now that is a tank made for knocking down walls.
![]() It even has the new CoD rule "Siege Shells", which supposedly lets you knock down buildings somehow. I have no idea how tha'd work, but it seems like it's what you're looking for.

Great, thanks...perhaps I've make myself a Vindicator then, maybe get the forgeworld conversion kit? I've got a spare set of rhino extra armour knocking around...or perhaps I could try making my own spaced armour with plasticard.
By the way, where might I find the Vehicle Design Rules?

Well...space marines arent exactly used in seiges. Even the imperial fists dont go extremely far down that line, marines just dont have the numbers for wars of attrition with heavy casualties expected. I dont think it would make sense for them to have seige specific vehicles.
