Default jump packs special rules

I'm having a bit of trouble here. I'm sure that the people at my store are mixing and matching rules in their confusion.

The question is, does a space marine jump pack allow you to rapid-fire a pistol and still charge? I think the guys are adapting the rule from the stabilisation system that tau jet packs have that allows rapid fire combined with an assault move.

Indeed they are confused.

A JET Pack gives you the stabilization system that lets you count as stationary when firing rapid fire weapons.

A JUMP pack simply gives you increased movement.

Neither system makes mention of pistol type weapons. (Since Tau are the only ones currently using Jet packs and they're jetpack equipped troops can't get pistols)

Falstead is correct, Jet packs and Jump packs are two different things. Jet lets you fire rapid fire weapons as though stationary but Jump packs get no such bonus. Since Tau are the only ones to have Jet packs Space Marines cant get that nifty rule and besides it says nothing about pistols.

~sigh~ I knew it. Getting charged by death company was bad enough...being softened up with 2 pistol shots each (including 2 plasmas) was a bit over the top.

Ouch.

He's playing blood angels AND cheating. That's harsh.

Regardless of whether they are jump packs or jet packs the pistol rule is clear. A model that moves may shoot 1 time with a pistol and still charge. If they stand still they can shoot twice. You cannot shoot a pistol 2 times if you move so he is cheating

Note: Jet pack may allow you to shoot twice if you move if it counts the model as being stationary but you still cannot charge if you shoot a pistol 2 times

Techincally I belive the jet pack allows you to count as stationary for firing rapid fire weapons. Though really it's just semantic. However as far as I know using the current rules no model with a jet pack can carry a pistol, so it doesn't matter to much.

Falstead is correct: The suits allow you to be stationart for Rapid fire weapons, and pistols are not classified as Rapid Fire. They're Pistols.

So the Death Company could jump up, shoot you once each, then assault...but no shooting twice because they moved (as per the Pistol rules).
