Default New marine army (No idea what I'm doing)

Hailings all

I'm planning on starting a whole new space marine force Called the Sons of Phallion and I want them to be the oppersit to my last army Warriors of Odin. Now the Warriors of Odin had the following Traits...

See but don't be seen, Hounor your wargear, Flesh over steel, Faithful unto death.

I had lots of land speeders, Heavy bolters and scouts. Everything infiltrated and I rained death from every direction. It was fun and did appear a little cheesy at times. For the Sons of Phallion I have taken...

Cleanse and purify, Eye to eye, Have pride in your colours.

I know I can take another Trait but I don't see anything that fits. I also want to use all the units I haven't used before Terminators, assault squads and tanks.

Now I've never used any of these squads before and don't know how to make the most of them. I would like to pice together an army list. I know I want to terminator squads of 6 each, one with assault cannons and the other with cyclone missilile launchers.

well, Trust Your Battle Brothers is always a great trait to mix with Cleanse an Purify. stick them in Rhinos or Drop Pods and they're very tough squads.

Whirlwind

Cool looking list mate. However, I would consider taking out one of the Termies and adding a few more guys to that Assault squad just to make sure they get to the enemy with good squad strength.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Whirlwind (although it may be because I've always played well-armoured opponents), and I would probably drop it and take two men out of the second tactical squad.
Then upgrade the Rhino to a second Razorback, and take maybe a small squad of footslogging Veteran Marines...(or put back that Terminator)?

Overall nice list, lets have a look over.

HQ:
Good HQ, nothing to change here.

Elite:
6 Terminators can easylly be two squads of SMs. I would take one out, making it 5. You can now buy almost three more marines. Also, yay for someone using Missle Launchers, I love them!

Troops:
You are really lacking here, for 1500 points you only have 14 marines. Get rid of the rhino squad, make another Razorback squad, them add a unit of Scouts (I like Snipers personally).

Fast:
Good set-up here.

Heavy:
I would take out the Whirlwind, and use some of those points for the Scouts. I would personally take the pred out for some Devs., but you want tanks, so it's fine.

Overall nice list, just lacked some bodies.

Thanks but that wasn't really an army list rather more of a wish list on what I entend to have. I was suppost to put down a second assault squad but forgot to do so. I chose the jump pack chaplain because I want to fit more into my force without beefing up an HQ squad. I'm said to inform you that I can't take scouts to my knowledge as I've taken the drawback "Have pride in your colours".

Have pride in your colours, I can't use the scout and infiltrate rules. Can I still take scouts?

I have to agree, id lose the whirlwind and a terminator and add another squad of marines at least

Heres a better an better idea of what my list will look like.

HQ
Chaplain with jump pack
I want a no fuss combat HQ and keeping him on the cheaper side of things.

Elilte
6 Terminators
2 cyclone misilie launchers
I chose 6 because I want the squad to last longer and I plan to teleport them into the battle and cyclone missile launchers because there over looked because of the assault cannons.

Troops
6 marines
2 melta guns
sgt with power fist, bolt pistol
Razorback with heavy bolters and second storm bolter
Close combat, hard hitting anti tank and a little experiment to see how well this squad plays

8 marines
2 plasma guns
support fire marines

8 marines
2 plasma guns
support fire marines

Fast attack
7 assault marines
sgt with power fist
(chaplain)
Nothing else said apart from "Death from above!"

8 assault marines
sgt with teleport homer
Close combat "Death from above!"

Heavy support
Whirlwind
The under dog of space marine tanks and an ordnance weapon.

Very cool. Although I'd make that smaller squad in the Razorback a Veteran squad to make them more hard hitting if you can spare the points.
