Default Any words on the success of a Vindicator Tank

I've watched them get blown up in White Dwarf, I'd like to know how to use them effectively, The Leman Russ Demolisher fire's 36" as I understand, why does the space marine vindicator shoot less, 24" ? Somebody at least give me some positive experiences that they've had with Vindiesels, to save one from it's commander bringing it out of commission.

it shoots less because it has a higher strength and a better ap, and because the marines don't need a cruddy tank like the leman russ (well except for the space wolves).

but I've used it before and it does one of two things, it attracts so much enemy fire that the rest of my army is safe for a couple of turns, or it kills so much that it makes up its points 3 fold.

in one battle it was able to wipe out 3 grey hunter squads in 2 turns, and in another game it killed a long fang squad, blew up a dreadnought, and immobilized a predator annihilator before it was finally blown up by a land speeder with a multi melta.

Demolisher cannon has a 24" range but you can put sponsons on it that allow you to shoot up to 36" with plasma or 48 with lascannon

Not in the BT dex I dont know where you got your intel from. But in the dex it says it's armed with a demolisher cannon and a hull mounted storm bolter.

I've only seen it be effective once, and that was mostly due to luck.

Dus to some deepstriking diffuclties while playing the rescue mission in the Tau codex, my fully-loaded divilfish landed right next to the edge of the board. Next turn my SM opponent rolls his reserves, and guess what shows up? That's right, it's his Vindicator. He turns and fires it point blank, and ends up with a "vehicle annihilated", killing off over 200 points of pathfinders and APC.

Next turn I killed it with a hammerhead.

Go guard or go home, meant that the leman russ cannon fires 24", but that you acn put sponsons on the tank to improve its ranged fire

I have seen it in action before, and it kills tyranids like crazy!

I say it is better off in cityfights, as most main weapons of other tanks are always blocked by the building and they have to get close. But the vindicator have no need for that as it alrady is a 'Close combat' vehicle.

My Salamander Vindicator is hit and miss.

Sometimes it gets destroyed very early. It often loses it's weapon early.

I try to keep it out of LOS during deployment. It will then advance as fast as it can first turn, blocking line of sight so enemy guns can't focus on my slogging close range squads.

If it survives this turn then it will park up behind/next to some cover and pound half the enemy army untill it is destroyed. Once it's weapon is lost it reverts back to a LOS blocker.

I find that it has such a powerful gun that it will draw almost all fire away from the SM. If it gets a chance to shoot, it will kill alot. I know I've cleared a couple of objectives through firepower with one. I've actually considered running 2 of them! yes, it gets killed often, but so do all tanks.

Anyway, I like it. It isn't any worse than other SM tanks.
