Damnation, does anybody have any of them saved that they could perhaps send to me?

I'm a partial francophone, but I guarentee MalVeuX and Chaplain thu'Ook would be your best bet. Why'd they take the template off anyway?

they were probably losing money. you choose, do you a. download the template and build your own drop pod or b. buy the one from forgeworld. plus there's been rumors that the plastic drop pod will be released soon (not likely though).

It would make sense for them to do so though. Right now more drop pods are being scratch built than there are rhinos being bought. If you asked me, GW should reduce the number of vehicles Marines and have the drop pod be the only one. It'd loose our title as a newbie army. You'd either have to footslog after the enemy/to objectives or be prepared for the idea you might only get your army on the board in pieces meaning your often facing a much superior force. It would be much harder tactical wise so it would lose it's appeal to Noobs looking for the quick win.

Not really. Fluff-wise SM's are seen as being quick assualt troops. How many quick assualt troops walk across the battlefield? The idea of a rhino speeding up to an enemy position, with 7 foot marines disembarking out of the ramp, ready to crush the enemies of the Emperor is a lot cooler than superhumans slogging it on foot across the battlefield.

SM aren't as easy to play as you might think. It takes very careful target priority for a shooty army and you need to make sure your assault troops don't get isolated with a combat army. I was playing a game yesterday where about half my army was concentrated in a fairly small piece of board, massacred all their opponents and then had to slog across to kill the rest of the enemy. My opponent would have won if he hadn't concentrated his Crusader, termies, master and Veterans (or similar) where my Raider, Blood Claws, Wolf Priest and Ancient Dread were.
